I recently dined at Dockside Restaurant and Bar, and overall, it was a great experience. From the moment I stepped inside, the warm and welcoming atmosphere set the stage for a memorable meal. Dockside boasted an impressive selection of seafood dishes, ranging from delectable oysters and comforting clam chowder to classic fish and chips. The freshness and quality of the seafood were unquestionable, and each bite was a testament to the culinary expertise of the chefs. The menu catered to various preferences and dietary needs, ensuring there was something for everyone to enjoy. The service at Dockside was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff members who went above and beyond to make my dining experience truly exceptional. They were knowledgeable about the menu and provided insightful recommendations, enhancing the overall enjoyment of the meal. A notable feature of Dockside was the option to use their electronic barcode ordering system. This convenient and efficient method allowed for seamless ordering, particularly for those who prefer a more technology-driven approach. However, traditionalists need not worry, as the staff were more than willing to assist with the menu and take orders directly, ensuring a personalized experience for all guests. I opted to dine in the outdoor seating area, which provided a pleasant and inviting ambiance. The addition of heaters ensured comfort even during cooler weather, allowing me to fully appreciate the picturesque surroundings. It was the perfect setting to savor the flavors of the meal and enjoy the lively atmosphere. While my experience at Dockside was overwhelmingly positive, there was one minor drawback to note—the pricing. Some dishes seemed to be slightly overpriced, with a margin of around 5% to 10% above what one might expect. Although the quality and taste justified the overall cost, it's worth considering for those who have a tighter budget. Despite the slight pricing issue, I still wholeheartedly recommend Dockside Restaurant and Bar for its outstanding seafood selection, excellent service, and enjoyable ambiance. The restaurant offers an exceptional dining experience that is sure to leave a lasting impression. I look forward to returning to explore more of their enticing menu offerings, keeping in mind the slight premium on the prices.

For the perfect ending to our sisters WOW visit, we lunched at Dockside Restaurant & Bar on the wharf and the views of the harbour were lovely. The restaurant has a brightness and the ambiance was relaxed. Our waitress was very attentive and engaging and we decided on our choices of crab wontons with coconut caramel sauce, seafood chowder and steamed mussel pot in coconut milk and lemongrass. I ordered a Central Otago Pinot Noir to accompany my lunch. The entrees were amazing in particular my crab wontons, simply heavenly. Following on, we had the pork belly chicharones and tempura prawns on cashew nahm jim with pickled ginger mayo and apple syrup, confit duck with Pinot jus and beetroot and kumara with almond creme and these mains were delightful. Finally, we ordered desserts of banana crepes with golden rum caramel, Black Forest gateau chocolate sphere and apple and blackberry crumble. These dishes were the crescendo to the symphony of gourmet delight we experienced. I eagerly look forward to dining here again and trying the degustation menu. Highly recommended with distinction!

I loved the grazing plate and the desert. The flavours are fantastic A+++ The presentation on the plate is beautiful. The grazing plate was enough to share for 2 and we even had a bit left over. We did also have the fries, which came with a generous amount of aioli and tomato sauce. They were deliciously crunchy! I put 4 for atmosphere only because as a personal preference, I found the live music a tad too loud to have a conversation without straining our voices. Another little issue (that is NOT) the restaurant's fault, was the rubbish floating in the water next to the windows. As my friend said, if this was her restaurant, she would have a pool pole net and get the staff to dish out the bottles and coffee cups every hour or so. I would rather have no music and see that $ spent on collecting the floating rubbish.... But that's just me . Other than that, everything is fantastic . The bathroom even has a hairdryer and a hair straightener!

Dockside is a stalwart of the Wellington waterfront. I've been going there for nearly 25 yrs, and I'm rarely disappointed. Our 3-course Christmas lunch today was typically delicious and beautifully presented. In fact I'd say it's possibly the best food I've had there. For $75 I had a tender duck salad entrée, crispy pork belly main and outstanding mini pavlova, perfectly cooked with freshly whipped cream and berry purée (you can tell I have a sweet tooth). My one and only criticism would be that the main was just a bit light - when your meals don't come with bread or side dishes, that is. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect more than two pieces (mouthfuls) of pork belly in a main dish, even if it did come with two prawns. At the end, I was a wee bit hungry, and that detracted a wee bit from the exquisite tastes and the great service.

One of my favorite restaurants in Wellington. They have wonderful selection of seafood platters and my favorites are their chowder, grilled fish or fish of the day, and salmon. The salmon is very creamy yet you can taste it’s crispy skin. They also have steak and duck menu. The appetizers are also lovely, particularly the calamari, tuna sashimi, and fresh oyster as well as fried oyster with tempura. Desserts are tempting as well. The last time we came here, we were seated on the upper floor. Love the view from here and the place has an overall elegant ambience and the service is good. Those with reduced mobility might have issue going up to the upper through the stairs but if you can get the spot on ground floor then it won’t be problematic. Parking can be a bit tricky but there is a park building near the area. Happy to be back.

This cozy restaurant has left the best lasting impressions! The food is absolutely amazing with some twists- everything we tasted melted in our mouths. Infact, the best meal I have had in a while. From drinks to starters to sharing plates to a delicious main course, it was all very good (no hype!). I would highly recommend you to try the Angus fillet & braised beef cheek - This was like no other Fillet I've had before. It had its own depth of flavor- Try it! Last but not least, the service is unmatched, which rounded the whole dining experience - I was here for birthday dinner and the staff who hosted us was extremely knowledgeable and made great recommendations. A BIG THANKYOU to you girl!!! You were indeed the best and left us happy :) With the warm atmosphere, quality food and friendly staff, I would say it's 100% worth it.
