We decided to try Bin44 as they were on first table and neither of our party of 4 had been before. The atmosphere was loud and the tables are quite close together. We ordered drinks, entrees and mains. We enjoyed our cocktails. Entrees were alright. Three of us ordered the pork belly which was inedible. The layer of fat was mushy and the meat had an unpleasant smell, was dry and didn’t taste like pork. The other person had a pizza which seemed to be store bought base with some meat and cheese slapped on top. When asked how our meal was, we told the server that we were unable to eat the pork, to which he shrugged and walked away. Another server came over and told us we could speak with the chef and manager. When going up to pay we spoke with the chef and manager and explained the problems with the pork, who told us that pork belly isn’t always crispy and they hadn’t had any complaints before. We weren’t very happy with the lack of empathy however were thankful for the gesture of discounting our bill. I don’t think any of us will return for a meal, however the cocktails were nice and we can imagine the outdoor seating area would be nice in summer.

Following our girls afternoon outing to WOW, my sister treated us to a four course degustation dinner with beer or wine pairings at Bin44 Restaurant & Bar just across from TSB Bank Arena. The restaurant was lovely as was the staff and service was excellent. We started off with smoked fish croquettes on harissa Mayo with a glass of Pinot gris. This was followed by a warmed Thai chicken salad with a glass of dry Riesling, and then the main of beef cheek with potato gratin with sweet onion jam and pumpkin turnip mash and mushroom gravy served with a glass of Syrah followed. And finally, for the dessert, a biramisu with mango purée and charcoal sorbet with preserved peach was served with a glass of Prosecco. Our courses were delicious with the dessert being the clear standout. Our dining experience and ambiance of the restaurant was lovely. Highly recommended!

Bin44 came highly recommended and looked more upmarket compared to the other bars and casual dining around the stadium. Half appears to be a sports bar with the other half more stylish restaurant. We went for weekend lunch, it wasn’t busy to start with but filled up. I ordered the soy beef and prawn salad, I recommend they stick with just the beef as the ‘prawn’ consisted of very small shrimp on a skewer as an afterthought and negatively impacted on the dish. We also tried the pan fried fish and mash potatoes, which was delicious. Service was a tad brusque. there is a lot of competition around the wharf area and Bin44 probably good for another visit.

Four of us went there for dinner on Friday 20th October. Overall it was a generally poor experience.

It was 15 minutes after we were seated that we were finally given food menus and it wasn't for another ten minutes that a drinks menu was taken. So were sitting there for 25 minutes with just table water.

There was no cohesion of the waitstaff. Two of us ordered a drink, the other two ordered a bottle of wine to share, we asked to keep the two unused wine glasses just in case and this was fine, shortly after another member of staff removed these without asking as. At one point towards the end of the night staff were messing around with a balloon behind the counter and it didn't look very professional.

For the four of us we ordered the Hummus + Flatbread, Lager Battered Vegetables with Aioli, Mixed Vegetables platter. The hummus and vegetables were good. The flatbread was just a tortilla cut up into smaller pieces, and there was a huge amount of aioli and hummus compared to the things to dip them into.

For the mains I ordered the Pan Roasted Market Fish and this was really good, my partner ordered the IPA Poached Akaroa Salmon and said it was burnt and overcooked. The other two members of the party ordered the Shark + Potato Vindaloo, which was OK, and the Roasted Free Range Chicken Thigh Brined in APA, which was actually like a salad even though the menu doesn't hint at this at all

We did not try any of the desserts.

Overall the level of service wasn't the best and the food could have been better. We probably wouldn't...

Wow. What a new years eve. Friends from out of town here for dinner, menu and website looked fab. Booked to ensure table was available. Turned up at 7pm no vaccine passed scanned or even asked for. 30minutes after arrival had to wave down waiter. Irish man came to take our order. Looked like he was not interested in serving. Took our order for drinks and entree and main. 1hr later had to go up to bar and follow up drinks. Drinks came and entrees shortly after was delicious. Ordered more drinks. 30 minutes we had to ask where they were. They then arrived. Main we ordered was 2 x twice cooked pork belly, steak and margherita pizza . 2 hrs after we ordered they arrived and all sub par. Pork not cooked and no crackling. Apple sauce was disgusting and out of a tin. Pizza didnt have tomato base. Steak meal tasteless and salad didnt arrive. Not once during this time did anyone check on us. It was so disappointing and embarrassing to show friends what we can deliver in Wellington. When the bill was ready we went up to the counter to talk with the manager to be horrified to see the manager was the waiter we had the poor service from. Once we had gone through our issues he said he had waitered all over the world and he said he didnt like our attitude and it was a busy night. Absolutely APPAULING. only good thing of the night a waitress named laura came over and gave us a sincere apology. Seriously Bin44 get rid of the manager and find someone that can do...

Positive - the menu offered gluten free options and appreciated being able to eat safely as I am a celiac.

Negative - for a beautiful Wellington day with women’s expo across at TSB and a cruise ship docked, the level of staffing was not right. Service was slow, with a rushed and harassed customer experience. Had to wait to be served, seated, order taken and food to be delivered. Even asking where our food was difficult because the server clearly thought everyone else waiting meant we shouldn’t query. She said she would go check but we never saw her again. For a simple order of two bowls of fried and cheesy bread and eggs on gf toast, it shouldn’t be a 30 min wait.

Negative - our food eventually came out lukewarm. So it had been cooked but sitting somewhere waiting for a server to bring out. The chips looked amazing but barely warm. My eggs on gf toast was terrible. The gf toast was as hard as a rock and no butter on it. I feel ripped off that such a simple dish was served below average and not worth the money I spent on it.

The outdoor seating area was messy with uncleared dishes and food waste on the ground. It wasn’t a welcoming place to eat and I’d be hesitant to take my family...
