Browns Eatery and Store — Restaurant in Ōrākei

2 things to complain about this place. First is the service and 2nd is there's no price on the cabinet food. We dine in during lunch time on weekday and it was quite busy. There's this male waiter with pretty rude manner when putting down the plate and the cutlery. When putting down my plate, he kind of threw it and made a loud sound. ok i guess it might be by accident that he was in haste or something. But later when he was putting down cutlery for my friend, he threw it on the table without even a sorry or any acknowledgement. 2nd thing to complain is no price on the cabinet. I don't know why the cashier can be bothered asked by customer repeatedly through out the day. Doesn't make much sense.

Definitely will not be returning to this cafe. We ordered at the counter when we entered and were served by staff who couldn’t even be bothered to say hello. If we had moved further down the cafe we would have left immediately. The tables were all dirty and the couch that we ended up sitting on was stained really badly and looked disgusting. Unfortunately the food or coffee didn’t make up for the place. It was quite possibly the worst coffee we have ever had- watery and bitter. We both could not finish them. Food was an omelette with barely any filling and chewy granola that I eventually gave up on because my jaw just couldn’t handle any more. Staff seemed uninterested and no one checked how the meals were. A complete waste of money, but at least we know not to...

Love the buzzy atmosphere in my favourite little cafe here. Today I ordered a creamy mushrooms on toast. The menu on the board said “add poached egg” and I did not realise that it had a tiny +4 next to that so I read it as “creamy mushrooms add poached egg”. My order arrived w/o the egg. I went to ask the counter and they explained it was an add on. I told my friend at my table a little sadly that it was the egg I was looking forward to. Someone must have heard me. Ten mins later and an egg arrived at my table and the waiter had the nicest smile. Thank you guys! I love the fact that you don’t want to disappoint a customer but your little gesture was surprising and delightful. Reinforces my vote for why you guys are my fav little local! X keep up...
