Finally got to experience Global Kitchen lastnight after our friends rave on and won’t stop going once a week. In the time I have spent in Palmerston North - this would be the best food I have had in a long time. The menu is well equipped from oysters to start and tender (melt in your mouth) Steak. We tried a wide variety of delicacy dishes. I admire te ao maori incorporated using our most beneficial ingredients in your bread, the Kawakawa leaf. It soaks up the cream pāua perfectly. The prawns on the steak were most succulent and I could have ordered more strawberry margaritas if we didn’t have a child and it wasn’t a Wednesday. The atmosphere was beautiful and the decor is simple and tasteful - feels very contemporary and clean. I admire the way the chefs can stand up the front and bring canapĂ©s to our tables, it’s a brilliant way to engage with customers - it is always delightful to know who is cooking your food. The hospitality was first tier. Nicky and willow paid close attention to what we needed as soon as I walked in the door, right up until we left. The cocktails moved fast and they made sure to explain each dish with ease - including preferences. For the quality of food, the prices are outrageously reasonable! Overall they have wonderful staff and a beautiful atmosphere - we look forward to coming back again. Mauri ora!

We went here in January and got the carnivore for 4 amongst 3 of us and were thoroughly satisfied. However unfortunately when we went the other evening, it was quite the let down. The atmosphere was very loud, we were seated next to a table that was loudly talking and you could not hear yourself. The waiter asked us for drinks as soon as we sat down and had told us that the portions for sharing were "massive" but we got the $79 steak and creamed paua and it looked like a single serve with 5 prawns. The pork belly was dry and seemed as though it had been microwaved, we were quite disappointed in the lack of food, but the fries were a huge portion. Would love to come back but for the price point, the amount of food is not ideal and can get a much better range of food at a similar standard for a lot cheaper

Great addition to the Palmy food scene - food is basically a a 4.5 star rating as there was only one dish that didn’t quite do it for us but all of the other dishes we had were superb. We did a small plates extravaganza. For gluten free diners this place is excellent. So much choice. Winners for us were the Angel Wings and Sang Choi bao (roast duck) and Korean fried chicken and ribs ! Excellent drinks menu and cocktails. Service was extremely welcoming. Early in its journey but it is a recommend for us. Sneaky pic of the donuts dessert
nom nom. But probably didn’t need them all !

The food was just lovely, we shared a mixed meal of plates called "Carnivore for Dinner". It was such a treat, but, having a little trouble choosing a wine, one was suggested by our waiter. We then received two glasses, one each or what was not a sweet Rose at all, in fact it was not very nice. We were given the large glass, not asked if we'd like one, no chance to try the wine as it was one we hadn't had, and no sign of the bottle to show what it was. The half glasses by the way, were the same price as the whole bottle, so maybe a little high on the mark up. This did ruin our experience. Once our plates were semi cleared, no one came back to us to ask if we'd like desert, we had to ask for a menu for that, and would have had a lovely desert wine with that if anyone had asked. I am not sure how many times our waiter said "beautiful" but it made me think maybe he hadn't tried anything on the menu, there are surely some better descriptions, full flavored, slightly spicy etc. Needless to say we didn't leave a tip, but back to my first statement, the food was excellent! Sorry...

What a great addition to the Palmy dining scene! Global Kitchen delivers stunning, out of this world delicious snack-size taste explosions. We had Mexican Tostadas and Norwegian Gravadlax, both were really delicious. My main dish was Braised Beef Ribs with KĆ«mara Kawakawa Dumplings, which to my surprise turned out to be a soup. The broth was subtle, the dumplings unlike anything I tasted before because of the unusual ingredients.I would have gladly exchanged the dumplings for the ribs, so lovely was the taste! My partner had a curried lamb shank and I think he was happy with his meal, too. Global Kitchen has a decent-sized list of beverages from around the globe to match their menu. The restaurant has just opened in a long established fine dining spot and taken over much of the previous owner’s aesthetic and flair. But not their attitude and pricing: service is personable, friendly, not intimidating, the menu items are written in clear language, and the pricing is really super reasonable for both the quality of the food and the quantity. Highly...
