Well this is an update as this month the strict covid protocol has been relaxed or removed in NZ. As from April 2023 you do not need covid vaccination record to travel by air to manila.
I have spent 6 months soaking up the sun in metro manila in my 2 condos. Air travel is great and enjoy flying back to avoid paying Airlines higher double fees.
As in keeping with Global business slow down there is a decrease in general restaurant and bar attendance on the weekdays. However week ends can be busy. The food prices are noticeable higher and the food qualities have been maintained.
In Cobb there is less customers generally but the place still look good. Ha ha the pokies machines are not paying out that much or that regularly. Wow there is a 2nd bank run in Wall Street in March 2023. This financial collapse can result in a Financial crash like Lehmann Brothers bank collapse 2007. Do not keep more than $80,000 cash or deposit in your bank. Please do your due diligence. This is not financial advice but just News!
The latest is 500 mg of fine scotch fillet steak for $40. I have to say it is not as good as the cheaper Rump Steak! I think the steak is wrongly cooked as it is tough when it should be tender. Lol. The butter chicken is Not Nice. Fried Fish and chips is my favorite meal.
Free strong WiFi with no time limit is a definite plus.
Below was my past experience written 3 years ago. My score for Cobb is still 🔥 great at 4.0
xxxxXXXxxxx i love this inexpensive hotel bar and tavern. Love the tasty lunch and dinner menu. i always have tasty BBq pork ribs 500gm and Hoki fish fried fillet. Yummy dishes. The sauces and salt and pepper and Worcestershire sauce are all to your helping. Atmosphere is not too loud or busy. Ha ha The big chicken fillet burger is yummy too. Daily you get 200 g of tender rump steak for $15.00 and that is very cool. I love to drink "Tiger beer ultra" low carbs and to watch MMA Boxing and UFC on the Big Screen. You welcome on down to The Cobb Tavern...
Read moreMy friend and I were driving from New Plymouth for her to have cancer treatment and we stopped and rang to book a table in advance as my friend had previously had a great experience here. We were told they were not busy and to just show up, that there would be tables available. We got there and there were not any tables available, therefore we had to wait until one became available. We ordered our food and we were given what we now know as a buzzer for our table. We had no idea what it was and the waitress did not explain. The buzzer went off a few times but like I said we weren't sure what that meant as we were not told. Our waitress eventually brought our food to us and very rudely asked if our buzzer went off. We said yes but we didn't know what it meant. She said we were meant to go get our food from the kitchen... which in my entire hospitality life I have never heard of. We could also see other tables having their food delivered to them and so we were confused. My friend had been previously and had her meals delivered to her. She was very sick and could not possibly have gotten up and retrieved her own meal. She could barely sit comfortably. She ordered the wedges which was supposed to come with sweet chilli sauce... it came absolutely drenched in it and therefore was inedible. The steak I ordered tasted very old. Came time to order a dessert which we thought may have been an improvement. We were told there would be a wait as the kitchen staff were telling the waitresses to stop putting orders through. At that time I looked around and saw maybe two or three tables occupied in total in the entire restaurant.. so not busy at all, yet they told us we had to wait. We left and went somewhere else and had two full meals plus desserts. Overall was an...
Read moreMy experience at the Cobb was unfortunately not great. Visiting from Whanganui. We rang prior to ask rules and regulations, as it was just after 8pm. We were told last meal walk-in at 9pm, closing after that. So we head down. We waited to be waited on for longer than 15mins. In that time the Bar manager was yelling at one of her workers from across the room because of a wrong drink order, instead of taking her to the side. Once our meal and drink order was taken, we had to ASK for our drinks 15mins later (2 bar staff at the bar talking, manager wiping bar) unfortunately. By this stage it is 8.45pm and no meal...only to see it under the Chef light for a few minutes before a staff member retrieved it. We start to eat and overhear the bar manager say 10mins closing...really? We just got our meal! When we asked her if it was what she said, she was rude and abrupt. Now as a Bar manager of a public restaurant/bar, the mannerisms and duties are to be 100% customer friendly, tired or not! Covid19 has been a struggle on all so to go out in public to relax and dine at the Cobb without worries? Sadly, not going to happen. We didn't even finish our meals, we had to take them away. Unfortunately, our services were not respected enough so this experience will definitely find me dining elsewhere next time in...
