This used to be one of THE BEST places to eat in Palmerston North. It used to be packed all the time and getting a table was nigh-on impossible!
But now, with the new owners, everything the original owners have built over the past few years, has been flushed down the proverbial toilet.
We ordered 3 of our regular favourites - the pork and shrimp noodle soup, the waterfall chicken, and the grilled chicken sticky rice, and we were more disappointed than a kid getting socks for christmas. We didn't expect the new owners to make the exact same food, but what was served to us was barely edible.
The pork and prawn noodle soup was okay, but the taste was very bland. There was a very economical serving of pork and 3 little prawns. Most of the dish was just noodles. The waterfall chicken, what was once one of the best things we've ever tasted, is now a generic chicken and rice dish. The unique and special flavours are no more, and replaced by ... nothing. The chicken looked like it was steamed, and the sticky rice had colour, but again, no taste. And finally, the grilled chicken sticky rice. Like the waterfall chicken, there was no taste.probably because the "grilled" chicken was boiled or steamed.
And if the thought having bland, tasteless food was bad, wait until I tell you how the food was prepared! From my vantage point, and due to the fact that no one else was there, I could see how our 3 dishes were prepared. All of them were simply microwaved and served to us. No wonder the "grilled" chicken from the waterfall chicken and sticky rice was didn't have a nice, crispy coating. No wonder the chicken tasted like it had just taken a bath in tepid water.
Needless to say, we're not going back there anytime soon...
Read moreThe store over charged me for my order, when they acknowledged they had done this they refused to refund the money they had taken and would only offer store credit. This does not comply with comsumer standards. They offered to give me store credit or return the discount voucher they had not applied, either option would force me to return and spend more money so as they had refused to refund the money as I asked, saying that under no circumstances do they do 'cash out' I suggested they add additional food to the order (this did exceed the charged amount but was a waste as it meant that I had food I did not need and it went to waste). Since posting this the store has reached out and refunded the additional money as I requested several times when I was still in the store, though they sent me a receipt for someone else's order which I am pretty sure is also not best practice.
The summer rolls were bland and the peanut sauce was not to my families taste but the sticky rice, chicken skewers and grilled wagyu beef was nice but did not make up for the...
Read moreWith a baby at home there was no going out on my birthday so I ordered Saigon Corner through DeliverEasy. When it arrived the Waterfall chicken looked really dark and the fish spring rolls were really dark and overcooked. As it was my birthday meal I decided not to make a fuss in front of my wife who was gutted not to be cooking for me this year and tried to eat the food. To be brutally honest it was awful. The chicken was like leather and was tough to eat. The fish spring rolls were really tough to eat as the batter was so hard.
When I complained about this after I was referred to DeliverEasy by Saigon Corner who totally passed the buck. Their response was that without photos that there was nothing they would do except give me a voucher for the delivery part of an order. I bet the chef knows what they put out because it shouldn't have left the premises. Because of this I will not eat at Saigon again or use the Delivereasy service. Really...
