Edited to add Android app review: Pretty goddam good. I could not find any reason not to give 5 stars (until later). The food was delicious and well made, staff were attentive and it was good value. Our party of five were all delighted. Will be back again, breakfast is supposed to be good too. Better value than the adjacent Lonestar with a brighter and open environment, the music was not too loud and had good songs. We could see right into the kitchen which is always nice. Clean toilets.
App review. To be honest, I have not installed the app, the permissions required are extensive, intrusive and seem to put the user at risk if privacy breach, location tracking and information loss. This is disappointing as my original review for the Joe's Garage "experience" was 5 stars. The permissions required by the app have sullied this "experience". I will back for food but I'll keep my data to myself thanks.

Read moreWe came to Joes Garage after it being on of our favourite places in Christchurch however we are thankful this is not our local. Upon ordering we realised that they could not do some of our orders which should have been mentioned at the start (no poached eggs, avocado etc). We also had one ordered placed for Gluten Free (Celiac person) and was given sourdough bread. We checked with the waitress, chef and another staff member who all assured us it was gluten free. I could tell this was not gluten free and had to ask to see the bread for them to realised they had plated the wrong thing. This is extremely dangerous and after being told by 3 different staff members it was gluten free is shocking. After also drinking one of our drinks we realised the glass was dirty, it had grim all over the glass. The service was extremely poor with the waiter having a strong bad body odor also. We had a group of people (around 14), we made the booking and unfortunately did not give them notice about the change in numbers, which we completely understand was our fault. However we had to turn away some of our friends due to it being a "full house" that night, which we were fine about however since being there and leaving, 3 tables were available which could have let our other friends stay for dinner. We found the service to be very rushed, and on the menu it said 10 dollars for a pint, however when paid they charged 12.50. This should be stated on the menu. They also forgot 2 of our meals, and while we understand this, they did not do anything about it, such as give a discount to the items as a courtesy.
