Beautifully well decorated interior with greenery and a welcoming layout of the cafe with an open view of the well stocked cabinet. I was very pleased with their varied cabinet treats, and definitely would like to try their raw slices next time! The layout of the cafe was very spacious-even though we had to share a table today, it never felt cramped or uncomfortable, and I think they did a really good job organising the seating arrangement. As for the menu-everything was beautifully printed and I see that their menu changes from time to time which is a real treat. The staff were friendly and patient and we were served with a jug of lemon mint water. We ordered lamb shoulder with flatbread and pork belly crumpet bene. Wait wasn't too long considering everything was made from scratch! The lamb shoulder was a well portioned hearty chunk of lamb which was tender and the meat pulled apart effortlessly. The flatbread was thick and accompanied well with the hummus. Personally I couldn't taste the smokiness of the hummus, but the lamb itself was very well done (and for a cafe too!). Pretty pleased overall that lamb would be served at a cafe. 7.5/10 The pork belly was just as tender as the lamb, it was a good chunk of fat and lean meat, and the lean part was never dry or tough to chew. The crumpet itself was also thick and chewy, some of the edge was crisp, and it was well paired with the marinated pork belly and the heaping of hollandaise and two poached runny yolk eggs on top! Hollandaise sauce was creamy and it added a lovely touch to the meal. 8.5/10 Overall, had a lovely experience dining here, there's definitely something different about Buster's that differs to general cafes. I would like to come again, as the food they serve is unique and eye-catching, however the prices to me is still a little steep for the quantity. 4/5...
Read moreWe booked a window seat at Buster Green, but when we arrived the waitress tried to seat us downstairs by the toilets on the lower ground with no windows. After insisting, we were eventually moved to a window table.
The surface wasn’t properly cleaned from the previous customers. The waitress only removed the cups and plates, leaving visible crumbs all over the table. The utensils were sitting out in the open and looked dusty. To make things worse, the water glasses were unclean with strange bits attached to the inner surface of the glass. For such a popular restaurant, the service felt careless and the basic standards of hygiene were not met. The waitresses were nice though.
As for the food, I ordered the Buster’s Burg and it was okay but nothing special. The fries came with aioli, but it would have been nice to have some other condiment options. My friend had the Pork Belly Benny and said it was delicious, though she found the Matcha Latte strange and far too sweet.
Overall, disappointing service and cleanliness, with food that was just average for me. I don’t see myself going back, though I imagine their popularity won’t...
Read moreToday I went into the café, having not had much success with other Dunedin Cafés regarding making a special drink, because of intolerance issues. The staff were sooooooo adorably lovely, superb, super helpful. Such a welcome like this is rare to find. :-) Seriously, happily made the drink, chatted about intolerance issues, the day and life in general. Genuine people. I watched as other customers came in, all the staff members were exactly 💯 the same, open, friendly and welcoming 🙏 😀 They served another couple, with their drinks. Looked like lemonade, came with posh classes, ice, lemon on the side, presented very professional 👌 Every single person that entered greeted the same. These were young women who clearly enjoyed working here. They, themselves were well-dressed tidy, polite and happy souls. The food on offer in the cabinet, fresh, unique and amazing 👏 The menu items 😋 cost effective, well presented and plentiful. Absolutely 💯 head in here, it well 👍 worth the effort, no effort actually. Places in hospitality hard to find at this amazing...
