The proprietor of this establishment is a true entrepreneur, heralding from a lineage that traces back to his great-grandfather's arrival in Wanaka. Initially, we harbored skepticism about his motives, suspecting a mere upsell strategy. However, our apprehensions were quickly dispelled. The sea urchins he recommended were unparalleled, surpassing even those we savored in Sapporo, Hokkaido. Priced at NZD 50 per portion, they provide a lavish feast for two and are a culinary necessity for sea urchin aficionados. You will not be disappointed. The salmon sashimi was another standout, its origins mysterious but its flavor nothing short of exquisite. Although every dish garnered acclaim, the fried rice did unfortunately not meet the same high standard, ranking lowest on our list. Service was impeccable, led by the boss himself and supported by highly efficient waitresses. The restaurant's name, Lake View Seafood Restaurant, promises stunning vistas of Lake Wanaka, though our nocturnal visit precluded these views. Nonetheless, the culinary experience alone is worth the journey. No stars, very disappointed, told the kina was very, very fresh, there was absolutely nothing fresh about it. We said to the waiter it was old kina, he refused to believe us, then told us it was bottled kina. We've had better fresher food at cheap takeaways shops. Definitely didn't get quality, but paid the price of 5 star. What was advertised to what we got. 🤢 see pics. Old defrosted kina on lettuce leaf with orange crust??. 🤐 Do not waste your money on any seafood. We Know exactly what fresh seafood should taste like. Thank goodness we didn't order the crayfish and paua too.

The food was awful. We told our waiter it was NOT fresh seafood, he kept insisting it was, we said we know fresh seafood, we grew up in New Zealand. He eventually admitted it was ordered in bottles. 🤢 We had the Kina, crispy duck/pork, vegetables, and rice. Would not eat there again if it was free. Please don't deceive customers with promises of fresh food. Paid top $ for old food. Your photos show fresh kina served in the shell. We got "old" tasted defrosted kina served on lettuce leaves.😳

I was impressed by the Sterling reviews-do much so my wife and I simply had to go. We had Chicken and sweetcorn soup, A bbq pork chow mein and a combination seafood fried rice. We also ordered a bottle of NZ white wine. We arrived around just before 6:30pm and we’re 2 of 16 dinners in an establishment that will seat around some 100 guests. The soup came out very smartly followed in no short order by the mains -which made us hurry the soup so we could start the main before the mains got cold. The Chicken and sweetcorn soup was a little underwhelming and whilst I’m no expert I’ve had my share and this soup appeared to be a chicken broth with some sweetcorn added just before serving-which resulted in some chicken broth and some sweetcorn but no meeting of the two. A little disappointing but there was enough for the two of us to share. Now, we have the two mains getting cold. These dishes were okay but nothing that would have me informing prospective future dinners “you need to eat at this establishment” A little disappointed but worth a generous 3 at best. Would I eat at this establishment again-sadly no! I informed the staff and they said sorry. Price was not the issue (28.00! Mains)- real flavourful food for that spend -sorry no -very average. Very nice view of the lake-just a shame we...

What a fantastic experience! The place was really nice and had easy access with plenty of parking space. The food? Absolutely amazing! My personal favorites were the honey chicken and spicy chicken, both were super tasty and full of flavor. The crispy pork was also a delight, and the fish mala soup was spot on. The black pepper beef had tender meat that just melted in your mouth. Everything was perfect!

To top it off, we somehow ran into a lot of fellow Indonesians here, likely because of the Lebaran holiday, which made the atmosphere even more enjoyable. They also offer free Wi-Fi, which is a great bonus. The kids absolutely loved it, too!

Definitely coming back for more. Highly...
