Having breakfast here this morning on our way to Nelson for a funeral and observed the rudest customer service I think I have ever struck in a McDonalds. A gentleman didn’t use the self service ordering thingy and stood waiting for service at the counter. There was no one else waiting. It took a good five minutes before anyone even acknowledged him, yes there was a girl with long black hair in a ponytail, cleaning the floor and another girl with black hair with a bun on her head, ignoring him and doing something else and then another girl standing there doing nothing, ignoring him. So I watched and wanted to see if they were actually going to serve him. Eventually the girl cleaning said something to him and then passed him onto the other girl who took no interest in him and only said “what do you want” and he proceeded to ask for a hot chocolate and a few other things. However the interaction between her and him was awkward and the staff member was NOT pleasant at all. I watched this and felt sorry for the man, other people also were now waiting for their orders and some guy asked for more than three ketchup packets and she wouldn’t give them to him but was rude about it at the same time. The guy walked away shaking his head. I’m sitting there watching and just in disbelief shaking MY head! If you applied for a job in my business and treated people like that, you’d be out on your face. Not impressed. Word of mouth is a great...
Read moreI've now experienced a McDonald's for breakfast in New Zealand and it's mostly the same as the ones in the USA.
Kiosk ordering which was helpful to get an idea of what's on offer for breakfast though I ended up choosing the "Bacon & Egg McMuffin" knowing that bacon over here is not the same as bacon back home. Americans have "streaky bacon" and the rest of the world slices it into pieces that are more like ham. So this was quite close to an American Egg McMuffin.
Other options including the "Big Brekkie Burger" and the "Massive McMuffin", both of which come with more sodium than is considered healthy. And for those who don't eat pork, they have a Chicken McMuffin or Hotcakes.
With it, hash browns (very similar to the USA) and coffee which was way better. While it's not a proper barista drawn coffee, it's a flat white and it was very good.
I opted to sit in the dining room for breakfast. It was clean, quiet, well cared for. This McDonalds has a Playplace and a drive through. They have a wifi but it was slow and I did not see any exposed power outlets. The parking lot is tight, shared with other businesses.
McDonald's isn't something I would do every day, especially when there are better #LocalCoffee options in town (I recommend 23 Grove Street Coffee not far from here) but I'm glad to have at least tried this in a...
Read moreWhen at the drive through the chocolate Sunday only had a small amount of chocolate on the side no bigger than a 50 cent piece & that's being generous. When asking if that is all the chocolate sauce you get the girl said you don't get any on the bottom of a small Sunday. I said I thought I had ordered a large & could you then tell me how much a small is she replied you should no cause you paid for it & she said she didn't no I ask her to find out please she turned away from me mouth ffffff and another lady then came over and was more helpful. So my experience was not great due to the first girl serving me. If I didn't have a young teenager in the car with me I would have lost my cool with the bad customer service I had received at the start . So not impressed I no we can all have bad days working in customer service but we still have to be professional about it and I was being pleasant and it escalated because she had no patience and just couldn't be bothered. I wish I had asked for...
