Unacceptable.
Happy to come to this brewery after a long day driving, we were expecting a good beer and a nice dinner. 56 dollars and over an hour later, it was a big disappointment.
We ordered our food before 8pm in a busy, happy place. We enjoyed a very nice beer waiting for our food. But after 45 minutes and an empty glass we started to wonder if our order was lost...
My partner decided to ask the staff where was our food (simple pub food) and realised that she was not the only one complaining , at least 4 other groups were waiting for their dinner and complaining.
The staff answered that our food was being plated and implied that it was about to be served (which after over 50 minutes is already abnormal). Without any apologies for the waiting time they offered beers acknowledging that it was long. However we were not thirsty but hungry at this point.
I still had time to drink half of my beer and have a cigarette before finally receiving the food. What a disappointment.
Soggy fries, cold tacos, small portions. Not worth 36 dollars.
We will agree that food is very subjective, and not everybody will have the same opinion but money and price wise, this place is to be avoided.
Only half the staff was actually actively working. One of the waitress was being distracted by her boyfriend half of the time (cuddles and kisses in public when you are working in a busy place with groups of angry people is not the best image a staff member can send.)
I understand that bad evening might happen in hospitality, I myself work in this industry, but tonight service was bad. Not coming back. Next time , before a customer sits down tell them that for food they might have to wait...
Read moreAs a former waitress, I was disappointed and a little shocked that there is no table service when we went in for our booked meal. Call me old fashioned but when you go out for an expensive meal, you expect to be served at the table. You actually have to line up and order all your drinks and food. The initial line was long. There was no mention that there was no table service during my booking. If we had known, we wouldn't have chosen to go there. We felt lucky we had an old rustic school chair to sit on that had a back once we got to the table. The alternative was a high black stool. How uncomfortable would that be when you are eating? You even have to get your own water. We had a wet floor sign right next to our table when we arrived. The back of my chair and the table where I was sitting was sticky. We were given no plates when we ordered the Chilli cheese bread to share. We had to eat it off napkins just sitting on the table. The rest of the meals were alright, but nothing to write home about. All the staff looked about 15 and had no customer service skills whatsoever. Overall, not a good experience. We...
Read moreThe vibe, food and service here was top tier! After a 4hr tranz alpine train ride from Christchurch to Greymouth, I was in need of a good feed and I definitely found it here! I ordered the ribs with beer battered chips, my partner had the fish and chips and we shared the Sunday lamb shoulder roast with gravy on roast potatoes and veges. My partner said the fish and chips were one of the best she has ever had which I promise, says A LOT! Me being allergic to seafood, couldn't partake in the fish lol! The ribs were very tasty thanks to their in-house sauce that the tender ribs were smothered in but those beer battered chips were freaking good! Chips on their own cost $17 which is pretty hefty, but i would pay that again for those chips! The biggest surprise was the lamb shoulder roast. Holy heck were they tender and full of flavour! I'm not a fan of Brussels sprouts but even they tasted amazing! I whole heartedly recommend stopping here for a feed, even if you must take a small detour to Greymouth on your adventure in the...
