It’s not horrible…but that’s the best I can say about the yum cha here. 潮州粉果 (Chiu Chow dumplings) wrappers are thick and dumpy, 萝卜糕 (turnip cake) is overly starchy and paste-like, the stuffed eggplant was dry and slightly stale, 鹹水角 (fried glutinous rice dumplings) were ok, but again, the skins were overly thick and heavy. The overall taste of everything was passable, but all the dishes just lacked finesse and felt like it had been sitting around for ages. Was hunting for good yum cha spots north of central Auckland and I have to say this place is not it. Service was standard and price was cheap, but the environment was very quiet and lacking the typical bustle and conviviality of good yum cha establishments. If you can, it’s best to make the trip to places like Sun World, Chow Foo, Lucky Fortune, or Grand Park, for a much...
Read moreCame here for lunch. Had a group of seven. We were seated as soon as we entered and, suprisingly it was busy for a Wednesday lunch. I took that as good sign that the food was good.
Good is putting it mildly. It was amazing. The BBQ pork looked dry but once you bite into it, it was soft, juicy and fell apart. The sweet and sour pork is one of the best I've had in years. Also, the spicy lamb hot plate was amazing. The spice wasn't too much but you could still feel it.
My favourite thing about the food....the fried rice. Wow. Amazing!!! I don't know how to explain it. I is literally the greatest fried rice I've ever had.
The staff was awesome. They were never out of sight and were always happy to help if needed. We had a Chinese speaker with us which also helped alot.
10/10....

The tea itself was pretty good, one of the better tea Ive tasted at a yum char. However this was the only good thing at this place.
This place doesn't have the yum char cart so you would expect the food to come out steaming hot inside. However all the food cames out luke warm, pastry is not crispy and filling is cold. All the dishes except the fried squid was very little seasoned, extremely plain. Honestly one of the worst yum char place I have eaten. If it wasn't for the good tea I would have given a one. I think the chef needs to taste his own food.
Will not come back again. Also ordered 5 dishes and is $40+ which is quite expensive for...
