Dakeyi Hotpot is an exceptional buffet restaurant that offers a remarkable array of delights.

From the flavorful Northern China cuisines such as 锅包肉 Guo Bao Rou which is a classic dish of crispy deep-fried pieces of pork that are coated in a sweet and tangy sauce, 酱大骨 Braised Pork Ribs in Sauce, 麻婆豆腐Mapo Tofu and the unexpected pleasures like grilled salmon head, it was an experience to remember.

What truly amazed me was the inclusion of 小米粥millet porridge which is a traditional Chinese dish made from millet grains simmered in water or broth until it becomes a comforting, creamy consistency.

Recently visited this Rosedale eatery with a group for a friend’s farewell. It was truly a feast as we end up having over 1️⃣6️⃣ dishes between 9️⃣ people (not including the two the restaurant forgot to serve – can’t blame them - our order was humongous🤣) & the restaurant put out quite a memorable spread for us. It is spacious and has an abundance of seating for small groups and big gatherings. The service was quick and cheerful. It is especially unique compare to other Chinese restaurants as it does Steamboat (火锅), BBQ (烧烤) as well as traditional a la carte dishes (炒菜) & they do all three very well❗️

The highlight of the night was the BBQ Squid Tentacles 🦑 . BBQ squid is an everyday treat that’s popular from Japan to China, served outside movie theaters, at temples, and of course at night markets. The focus is more on cooked dishes. But the execution is above the norm. Even famous places in Australia couldn't match. A two in one buffet restaurant that makes you think why waste a good dinner at just an average restaurant when a buffet has exceptional taste and selection, this shop highlights the North Eastern main dishes and some ones that just goes down easy.
