Tokyo Japanese Restaurant & Sake Bar — Restaurant in Upper Harbour

This is the first time for me to write a negative comment for a restaurant. I have to write this as I don’t want other people to waste their money at this restaurant like I did. The food was really bad, vegetables were not fresh at all, for that $20 lunch box -at least I would get fresh ginger and salad. Also the pork obviously was not fresh before cooked too.. we were so disappointed, I thought a restaurant survived from COVID should be at least okay.. this was terrible. We also ordered donburis, no flavor and again disgusting vegetables.. I normally go to Musashi for lunch, they were not open at lunchtime today thus we came and want to try something new. Please change your name as food in Tokyo is completely different than yours. I’m not picky with food at all, but I would say this is the worst Japanese restaurant in Auckland! If you like Japanese donburis sushi. Ramen, nice yummy lunch box, recommend Takara in browns bay, musashi in Milford , Yokoso in dominion rd. When you look at the price for two people at a cafe, coffee, cold drink, & a meal, being between $50 - $70, then this place is well on track for value for money. 3rd or 4th time here, ordered 3 entrees, 2 wines, 2 fizzys, 3 mains, $66 for the whole lot, and not small portions. Price is ‘very’ good for what you are getting. Lovely hard working staff, always running around keeping on top of everything. Food is top notch for a small north shore outlet I wouldn’t have expected inner city nighttime restaurant standards in the first place. Perfect place for an an alternative lunch to all the regurgitated generic meals across the cafe industry. Awesome atmosphere, comfortable, welcoming. Food comes out promptly & is hot.

Didn’t notice a toilet, but there is plenty of parking. Easy access for accessible needs.

Definitely worth changing up lunch & coming here.

Have not tried it for dinners.

Nice food but the service and attitude let it down ...a group of 4 girls we ordered tapa style plates .. 1 plate of lots of small things each.. then 3 plates of dumplings turn up. When questioned I was told your ordered 5, after trying to explain there was 5 on the plate I ordered 1 plate why would I order 5 plates for 4 ladies I got told I asked you twice. When I said don’t bring the other 2 plates he said too late they cooked you can take it home I will take 1 plate of the bill. The service went down hill from there then ... when I asked for a dog plate and the bill a takeaway container, rubber band and plastic bag were dumped in front of me. The paying of the bill ...
