When we sat down at the cafe we waited more than ten minutesbefire we decided we should approach the waiting staff for menus. When i approached the waiter i asked if we could have menus and he asked if we would like to pay our bill, i explained we had just arrived. On returning to the table with the menus i noticed the toilet had become free so visited it, the waiter at this point approached the table to take the order, my partner asked if he could come back once i returned. He returned after roughly another 10 mins to take the order, i should add the cafe was'nt busy and he was clearing tables around us for most of this time. When placing our order I asked if it was possible to order a flat white with tumeric this was my first time trying this and I enquired him what it was like. Upon taking our order he said okay let me repeat your order after that 'ordeal'. He came across as very arrogant and gave off the impression that he really didnt want to be there. Its a shame as the other waiting staff appeared and friendly and attentive. When our food arrived there was no cuttlery and so instead of requesting some which may have taken some time we fetched it ourselves. The coffee despite ordering a flat white was a latte. The food was alright but the whole experience was overshadowed by this rude...
Read moreI judge most cafes by the caliber of their "big breakfast" option so by default I chose the Major Tom Big Breakfast. I really liked the poached eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and bacon but the sourdough rye and potato pakora were a MAJOR turnoff for me. The sourdough was too hard to cut up with the utensils provided and yet too dense to just simply eat as a sandwich when i mixed a poached egg and some bacon on it. The potato pakora has no place on what is typically an english breakfast, ambitious but also very disgusting, the spices normally used in pakora do not mix with bacon and eggs. I would suggest maybe a homemade hash brown, heck even your classic McCains hash browns/tater tots would suffice, but not potato pakora.
Aside from my criticism of the big breakfast, the preparation of the food was very fancy, the coffee was good, the service was ok. I would recommend having more than one person working the till on a busy Saturday afternoon and actually having an area where people can line up to pay rather than having them herd around the till in such an archaic fashion but thats really it. That last part is me...
Read moreThis place will not see me again! It started with my friend asking if they served Milo, to which the waitress replied that people who go to restaurants usually want something more sophisticated! We then asked if we could order from the kids menu but we're told that they do not allow this, nor do they do half portions. We explained that my friend had a medical issue and cannot eat a full meal, but was still denied the smaller options. The coffee was also terrible! I first tried a long black that was over extracted and when I asked for it to be remade, the barista just added more hot water and I was given the same horrible drink. I did not drink it and the waitresses just ignored this and did not ask if anything was wrong! After the meal I tried a flat white. This was terrible again and both me and my friend only took a couple of sips but could not drink it. We mentioned the bad coffee when we paid to which we only received a pathetic apology. Very disappointed customers who will...
