The Base Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Upper Harbour

I have been a regular customer of the base bar & grill, visiting at least twice a month over the past year. Ever since I first started coming here, there is a reason why fewer and fewer (non-Chinese) people are coming to eat at the base bar & grill.

As many mentioned, really unfriendly staff especially if you are not Chinese. The staff doesn't speak English very well and will be very curt to you if you can't speak Chinese. They would just slam the food on the table and talk to you with an annoyed tone when taking orders.

Plus, other people would just start smoking just outside the entrance and you would have to smell cigarettes while you eat. Not very fun.

Overall: Food: 4/5 Vibe: 1/5 Service: 1/5

Wouldn't recommend this place unless you can speak Chinese / do not mind rude service.

It's a shame because I really liked the food at this place. However, after having experienced bad service (even after being a regular here for over a year now) I will probably go elsewhere...

A Chinese mate invited me here for dinner. After reading the online review's (from the last year) I was nervous to say the least. I visited the restaurent and the staff working there was very rude. When I was asked what time the store would close, the kiwi woman and the short hair Chinese woman just standing at the counter glared at me as if they were looking at me. And when I asked where to sit at the table, they laughed at me and ignored me. They didn't answer to me. Even if the food was delicious, I would never go with that attitude of the staff.
