This shop undoubtedly serves one of the best crepe brulee in all of New Zealand, and I was truly impressed with the quality and the cozy atmosphere it provided. The brulee is a delight to savor, starting with the delectable caramelized sugar crunch on top, followed by the smooth custard and cream.
The cream was perfectly creamy, striking the right balance of sweetness. The crepe itself was delicious, and the homemade berry and cherry sauce added a delightful touch without being overly sweet. Each layer of the brulee was a hit for me, and I couldn't find any faults—it was simply perfect.
Kudos to the chef for crafting such a remarkable treat. However, it seems the popularity of the crepe brulee is causing some demand challenges. I witnessed people standing in line, and by around 1:45, the brulee had already sold out. It might be worth considering offering it for two days a week instead of just on Saturdays to keep up with the high demand.
The only minor inconvenience was the limited seating space, which led to some waiting. Despite my order taking 15 minutes to be delivered, it was absolutely worth it for the exquisite...
Read moreThis cake shop has thrived from starting out in the CBD till now with a slightly bigger store and more options in the Albany area. They are currently doing a great deal for $33 it includes 1 crepe brulee and 4 small items (tarts and pudding cups). We opted for 1 crepe and 2 tarts, and 2 puddings. The staff said the pudding was made on the day so we need to put in the fridge for a while before eating so it'd set. The cheese tarts has a limited time Taro flavour which we chose. The crepe was a treat as the crepe was at a good thickness that it could hold the brulee custard on top and the filling to my surprised contained whipped cream, blueberry jam and a small piece of their Japanese souffle cake. The pudding and the tart didn't set and ended up being quite runny but the taste of both was still nice, especially the tart pastry that had a strong fragrant...
Read moreI hadn't heard of Uncle Tetsu's, just happened to stumble upon the long line while walking down Queen St. I had time to spare (expect to wait an hour) and love desserts, so why not try it? I had never had Japanese Cheesecake before, but the style was very different from what I'm used to - much more cake-like, spongey, and light. I really enjoyed it, and would even wait in line to try it again. I also tried a Madeline, but I would probably pass on that treat next time. The cheesecake was best fresh & warm from the oven, but took on a slightly different taste (equally delicious) once at home in the fridge. At $20 per cake, it's very expensive, but worth it for the novelty in my...
