Charming Thai Cuisine — Restaurant in Waitākere Ranges

I love Thai food, I've been to many Thai restaurants and they're usually very polite and have very good customer service, but Charming Thai wasn't one of them. The food was good, however I was very disappointed with one of the staff members as she acted like she didn't want to serve the customers-- she barely interacted with us and frowned whenever she served us food, then spilled water on my friend and didn't apologize or clean up, and just walked away and let another staff member clean up( I think He was her boss). She had no sense of personal space and almost hit my head when she served our meal. I called out to her and told her to be careful next time or at least say excuse me so I could move. The next time she served, she aggressively slammed the food onto the table and shoved each meal in between each other as if she was angry at our table. Even the kids were concerned for her and thought she was rude. Overall, I would recommend better...

Had the king prawn pineapple fried rice and also our favourite Thai dish which is the sweet and sour fried whole snapper.

The fried snapper was quite good, definitely above average. The fish was a bit bony and the meat was not super fleshy but there was still enough meat on both side for sharing between 2 if ordering 2 dishes. However the price is pretty good for this dish. The fried rice was just average for me, I feel there wasn't enough wok flavour and also flavour didn't blend well together. On top of that although the presentation was not bad, it made it hard to eat the rice when it is fitted in a pineapple. So I felt if it was hot and straight on the plate would be better served.

Staffs were all nice and service was good. Price is also reasonable, will definitely be back to try...

Visited recently and honestly, the experience was disappointing. The food was just average — nothing special. When we requested some simple customisations to suit our vegetarian preferences, the staff seemed hesitant and tried to convince us to take the food as-is, which felt dismissive.

What really stood out, though, was the poor customer service. The lady at the front counter was quite rude and had an unwelcoming attitude. She kept staring at us and was constantly on her phone instead of paying attention to customers.

We ended up spending over $140, but it truly felt like a waste of money given the service and overall experience. Definitely expected better.
