Been meaning to try this place since I heard about it. The atmosphere is great. But I'm a little disappointed on food to be honest. It could be that I didn't order the right things. Or enough range.
On my own I could only eat two items from the menu, the Cacio e pepe tteokbokki with torched cheese and truffle, and the crispy eggplant with sichuan chilli syrup & cashew nut butter.
At about $20 for the cacio e pepe, the portion felt incredibly small (it's the size of one of those metal curry bowls), so it feels rather spenny. But I guess that's truffle for you? The use of tteokbokki was a novelty twist, but the rice cake doesn't hold the cheese sauce as well as pasta could. So while it was a fun idea, execution wise, I'd say underwhelming. I'd rather go back to Pici.
The crispy eggplant was quite nice though. It's nothing new or amazing, nor would I necessarily go back for it, but it hit the spot. Not sure why they added the cashew butter though. It's too subtle a flavour to add to the dish. Wouldn't have known it was there, except that I was looking for it.
Didn't try any of the items on the drinks list, but they have a good selection of drinks on offer.
Service was nice though, and the restaurant offers a bigger space than I initially thought from the outside. Outdoor seats over the summer is always a good option to have. And the bathroom is spacious and clean.
There were items on the mains section that I'd be curious to come back and try. But maybe I'll wait for someone else to have a great time before I go back and...
Read moreCame to Aigo for lunch with the family after seeing some positive reviews online. The front of the restaurant doesn't really tells you the place is Aigo as it looks more like a bar than a Korean fusion restaurant so keep an eye on it.
The place was very crowded when we arrive but we were lucky as they just had a table at the back that can fit us.
We ordered the mandu kalguksu, the scampi prawn ramyun, the sujebi, the spicy tuna tartare on crispy rice and the korean sausage.
All the dishes were pretty good with the highlight being the scampi prawn ramyun. Price wise, this will be slightly on the high side but not excessive as the portion size is on the small side compared to the price.
We know that there is a FB group that commented on Aigo being "too fusion" for their liking but we totally politely disagree. The dishes served are really modern Korean dishes that still retains key elements / taste of Korean dishes and we definitely recommend this place if you are after authentic korean meals with a...
Read moreThe food was absolutely delicious, such an interesting fusion of flavours and the 6 of us loved it. Atmosphere was lovely and vibrant as well. Had booked well in advance for a table for 6 people and were given a booth that definitely did not fit. Was cramped to the point where two of us were unable to put our arms down to eat and had to hold the bowls the entire time. Please take into account that this was not 6 x 6ft men but 3 guys and 3 girls.
This in and of itself could’ve been put down as a mistake in having seated 6 people in a 4 person booth however when I paid, the waiter mentioned that it looked cramped. I agreed and said it wouldn’t fit 6 regular people on any given day. He then said “it might not fit six of you, but six of me maybe. Next time just leave a note that you guys are bigger and need more space”. Please note that not a single one of us has a bmi over 26 before you think this is a relevant statement. Ruined the good food and made for a...
