Disappointing visit. Popped into this place as reviews looked alright, seated quickly but the server didn’t say anything when we sat and just walked off, eventually someone came and took our order. I tried to swap the bacon on the big breakfast for avocado and the waiter said that would be okay but came back and said that there were no substitutions, thought that this was weird and the communication between the front and back clearly wasn’t there. The drinks then came out mine being an iced americano which came quickly and about 15 minutes later my partners drink came, a berry banana smoothie that was room temperature and runny. Her food then showed up, french toast with caramelised bananas the actual toast was okay but the bananas came with skin on which was a bit weird as she had to peel the cut banana. When placing her toast on the table the waiter asked if we wanted share plates and i said that i had a big breakfast coming to which he was surprised, my food came 10 minutes after hers and i was disappointed as the grilled tomato’s and mushrooms were not seasoned at all. No meal check was done not even when we went to pay, i had to tell the person on the till what we had ordered which was strange. Overall a very average experience and we won’t...

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm, friendly service that instantly makes you feel at home. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, and when the fireplace is going, it adds a cozy charm that makes it hard to leave.
The coffee here is exceptional—rich, smooth, and full-bodied. You can tell they take real pride in their brew. It’s easily some of the best I’ve had anywhere, and I always look forward to that first sip.
Then there’s the food—wow. Everything on the menu is fresh and packed with flavor, but the thick-cut bacon deserves a special mention. It's cut like a steak, perfectly cooked, and incredibly satisfying. It’s the kind of bacon that leaves a lasting impression and sets a new benchmark for breakfast.
Sol's Place strikes that rare balance between quality, consistency, and genuine hospitality. Whether you’re stopping in for a quick coffee or settling in for a long brunch, it never disappoints. This café is a must-visit for locals and visitors alike, and once you’ve been, you’ll find yourself coming back...
Read moreFirst-time visitors to Sol's, but we would definitely visit again when in town. From the moment we walked in the door, we were greeted by two really lovely guys. They both engaged in conversation with us, and we were quickly seated and given menus. The food and coffees arrived fast, and both were full of flavor, and the presentation was great. Upon settling the bill, I had a great chat with the barista and even managed to purchase some of their coffee beans. It was lovely to be served by people who clearly enjoy and love what they do. It radiated in their service and connections with their patrons. I hope you hold on to such great team members. We are not from auckland, but I certainly wouldn't hesitate in visiting...
