My girlfriend and I visited Dear Jervois on a quiet friday afternoon where there was only about 5 other tables in the cafe that had all seemed to be eating or finished with their meals. My experiance was seriously dissapointing. We ordered two coffees and two meals. Coffees came out quick and were a solid 6/10 ,nothing to write home about but also not the reason for my negative review. We sat and drunk our slightly above average coffees for about 40 minutes as we waited for our food until i finally jumped up and walked inside to do some reasearch on how much longer it would be. I was met by our waitress where i explained how long we had been waiting she answered that the food was on the passe "being assembled" so i returned to my seat. After another 10 to 15 minutes food came out undercooked and underwhelming. As a manager of a restaurant my self and a self described hospo sympothiser i strongly believe in trying to resolve any issues while in the venue before writing a public review and am empathic of problems throughout service espically ones met with honesty and proactive solutions. When i went to pay i waited paitently for the cashier to ask how my experiance was with my frustration on the tip of my tounge. Instead all i was faced with was a blunt cry for $48. To me not asking how a customers experiance was is a red flag that they know it wasnt good. I walked outside, but quickly turned around and returned unable to withhold my complaints any longer. Again i was met by our waitress who i calmy explained to that our experiance wasnt up to scratch. In responsed i recieved a soft "sorry about that" and generous serving of awkward silence. Dissapointing food, dissapointing service and either an unwillingness or incompetance to deal with issues when they arise. Wont be...
Read moreProbably the worst brunch experience I’ve ever had in Auckland - I have emailed DJ separately about the experience with no reply ! We regularly go to DJ and this occasion was for my daughters birthday From the start the waitress looked like she would rather be anywhere else on the planet than serving our table - in short there was a longer wait than normal for the food, 3 of the 4 meals eventually arrived then the wait began for the forth dish, and we waited and waited three of us didn’t start and the forth person (my daughter) had no food - the waitress walked by a couple of times, there was only two other tables in the cafe - it certainly wasn’t a busy morning, after 3-4 minutes I said excuse me we are waiting for her meal - then she checked her iPad then spoke to the chef then looked at the iPad again then called across the restaurant “it’s on the iPad” then she walked passed the table and said to us “1 minute” ! No apology, no honesty - like sorry we forgot your meal, No can I get you a coffee whilst you wait. Her food arrived it was rushed, the toast was warm and soft the avo was brown and lumpy and the eggs had the clear glaze on them - under done.
We finished our food and as I went to pay started to explain to the cashier and she handed me the full bill as I was talking - I didn’t want a scene infront of my daughter so payed in full and emailed DJ when I got home - that was last Friday - to date no reply - we won’t be going back ! I accept mistakes happen and of course they weren’t to know it was a birthday brunch or my daughters birthday who’s food was forgotten, but no apology and no remedy speaks volumes of the attitude towards...
Read moreWORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Totally ruined our day. So we were sitting next to the kitchen and we saw that our kumara chips had come out but none of the servers were getting the food. It literally stayed there for 5min (who wants to eat cold soggy chips?) until my Dad pointed at the chips and asked the Asian server with tattoos to give us the chips. The server gave us the chips and said to my dad “Don’t point at the food” in a rude manner and left. My dad was in disbelief and when the server was passing by my dad argued that he pointed at the food because no one was getting it and how can you treat a customer so rudely. But the server said we are doing our best service. Then my dad said how is this your best when the server clearly saw the food but ignored it, the other girl server also seemed to ignore it, the other guy server was playing Rubik’s cube with a child customer on the table behind us. Then the server said it’s “None of our business” and he glared back at us.
My dad was furious but he didn’t argue any further so not to ruin our morning any more. The kitchen rang the bell many times for the servers but it seemed that 2 servers were nice but didn’t want to work, the asian guy was like angry and super rude - he was like crashing down chairs (even other customers were surprised at the sound) and walking/thumping really aggressively.
The food is good but not anything special. I thought this place would definitely be good because of the ratings but we were extremely disappointed, angry and we had just lost our appetite by the time other food...
