If you want to sit in a large group, be prepared to inhale smoke fumes as you eat. No, you can't sit inside, you have to sit 'outside' which is actually a mix- as it still has a roof to keep the cigarette smell in.
If you want to order, ALL your food comes at once. The waiters will ask, 'Where do you want me to put this?' And dump it all on the table. Yes, all your bread dips, the pizzas, the mains, EVERYTHING... all at once. No, you can't nibble on the bread before-hand.
And, when you ask about this, "I noticed you dumped everything, all the food on the table all at once... this isn't right..." The waitress will laugh at you and won't say much in response. It will come out as a giggle and an "Oh. Oh well...."
The pizzas... I told my Dad not to order the pizzas... but he did... I told him he was going to be disappointed... I warned him... He said "No, I'm sure they have improved!" Nope. Still as tasteless as ever.
There was something wrong with the mussels. They were chewy, shriveled and overcooked.
The next night we went home, replicated the same meal, spent far less money and it all tasted much better. And we didn't have to deal with any bad mannered and uncaring waitresses. Or nasty poisonous fumes.
I recommend going to De Post in Mount Eden for MUCH better food, value, service and atmosphere. This place really needs to step it up a few...
Read moreWent here to celebrate a birthday, but unfortunately the experience was disappointing from start to finish. The atmosphere was chaotic—we were seated right by a door that constantly slammed as people came and went, and we were stuck between a loud group and another table who ended up leaving after their complaints to staff were ignored. We eventually had to move ourselves just to enjoy a basic conversation.
The food was overpriced and underwhelming. My southern fried chicken was cooked well enough, but completely lacked presentation. My friend’s beef salad was even worse—overcooked beef tossed on top of what looked like a bagged salad with a few crispy noodles thrown on as an afterthought. Cocktails were also overpriced and incredibly average.
Chairs were hard and uncomfortable, and to top it all off, we watched staff scraping food into a rubbish bin in the restaurant dining area. Completely off-putting. Some staff were friendly, but others seemed disengaged and more interested in chatting with each other than helping guests.
To make things worse, it’s dog-friendly in the most unhygienic way—dogs walking right through the restaurant to get outside. Yuk.
What was meant to be a special celebration turned into a big letdown. I would not recommend this place and definitely won’t be going back....
