Western Springs Speedway — Attraction in Waitematā

The racing was absolutely fabulous, it was well organised fitting in alot of races with no mucking about in between events and the safety crew were on the ball. I thourougly enjoyed the night and would definately go again. The big screen and chance to see replays was an added bonus here. I thought the entry was dear compared to other speedway tracks ive have been to but it was international racing on the night we went so that may explain the price. There was a long queue for tickets but it moved quickly. I believe if you buy tickets online you can avoid the queue??? Food was dear as it usually is in these places. Seating is concrete steps so cushion highly recommended. We sat about 4 steps from the front and had a fabulous view of the racing but got pounded by flying dirt which was at times quite vicious. If your going to risk sitting close i definitely advise safety goggles. I wore a sunhat with a peaked cap and held a picnic blanket waterproof side out...

A very polished set up. Delays are never that long. The facilities are fantastic but I recommend taking your own food if you are going with the family. The food prices here are fairly steep so buying in bulk is expensive , however, if you want to buy food there it is pretty decent and there is plenty of variety. Have cash with you as well, the vendors are cash only and while they do have a place to get cash out the surcharge won't be nice. Of course the racing is what you want to see and you won't be disappointed but having eye protection is a must as it can be dusty. A great venue for speedway racing.

Facilities are mostly quality with the large screen showing replays and highlights.

The staff keep the racing orderly and there is never a long wait between races.

Safety crew are top notch and highly disciplined, getting to any accidents as quickly as possible.

The track surface is a common factor that gets a lot of bad feedback year after year. Expect a lot of dust if your attending.

There is plenty of food options and all carry a large premium over regular food outlets and cash is mostly the only method of payment.

Parking is never a problem with a large field nearby although it requires payment...
