Western Springs Stadium is affectionately known as the home of Speedway and outdoor concerts in Auckland. A couple of the world's best Kiwi riders, Ivan Mauger and Barry Briggs, rode there frequently back in the late 60's and 70's. The Springs is Aucklands renowned outdoor concert venue that hosted a long list of both local and international artists going back 60 years, including Neil Diamond 80,000 people, The Rolling Stones, Bob Marley, Fleetwood Mac, Boz Scaggs, Dire Straights, David Bowie 85,000 people and long list of other artists right up to 2023. The parklands surrounding the stadium are a popular area for sporting events, a temporary summer water slide development, family gatherings and picnics or a tranquil stroll and bird watching on the pathways and waterways winding through the natural vegetation. Also, beside the stadium and parklands is the popular Motat Trasport Museum, and within an easy 15 minute walking distance is The Auckland Zoo, another popular venue in the area. Street parking is available for Parklands and overflow from Motat and sporting events. Concert parking is on the sports fields and...
Read moreWell done great set up this concert, however would be best if drinks weren't opened on the first gate in, to the organizers you knew we would be held for an extra hour at another gate having to wait before getting in to the actual show, that was sneaky sorry, need to leave them drinks closed at least for the extra wait inside, the concert grounds is fine to open the drinks and hold people back from getting best spots, we spent $80 as each bottle was $10 that was a waste of money..just saying, other than that the concert was awesome #FridayJamz, we had one of the best seats in the grounds (standing not seats, but the best)the buses afterwards could be better, more buses please, that was a long walk and wait, mean concert...
Read moreThe speedway here is fantastic, but if you're going to a concert here prepare for a bad time. I've been to western springs three times for concerts and each time has been a shambles. -$12 to $15 for a standard drink -having to pay 3 dollars for the privilege of having a cup -servers are shirty with you -any rain and the whole field turns to a mud pit, especially around toilets -they have a back entrance to the stadium that they never bother to use because that would inconvenience them with extra security costs -the vip section is a joke
Come for the speedway, but avoid this venue for concerts...
