The best way to calm down your kids is western springs Park,, playground, ducks, eels 🙄🙄, birds, you ll have a blast,, I mean the kids will😅😂🐦, you ve got the Auckland zoo, right next to the park, you can see elephants from time to time walking around, you ve got stale bread or birds seeds, don't forget them, you can feed them, I ve seen kids being chased by goose, l m 😂 but the kid wasn't, parents were but, guys if it's a beautiful day, kids are turning the house inside out, I ll defenetely advise you to take them down to the park, it's 50/50 with or without masks, it's totally up to you, I know that over a crowd, masks are compulsory, you ve got little kiddies rushing on bicycles, ghee, forgot about the dog, you have one, bring him down, don't forget your wife, this is a family outing, food, you ve got KFC, maccas, gosh, you couldn't go there without food, your pet, your kids, bike's, you ve got it, dont wait,...

I grew up in this area..Used to have the circus footy jump the fence into speedway major concerts motat the zoo collect golf balls n sell them back to players create our own dirt tracks jumps I remember the old Lancaster bomber firing up its engines..did a mechanics course at motat worked on vintage vehicles.. was only when I got older that I really appreciated the opportunity I'd had but as a kid I wanted to tinker with modern stuff.the duck pond on a nice day is perfect for fame strolls and lunch and the pathways are perfect for the elderly to cruise round on mobility scooters and pretend their Ivan Mauger or Sleepy Tripp in the Super modifieds. Had an old schoolmate years ago sneak into the zoo drunk and gave one of the lions a kick through the cage somehow and it ripped his leg off n out of his hip socket..bit more of a story to follow..sad n tragic really..Enjoy people from the four...

Our family recently spent a wonderful half-day at this beautiful lakeside park, and we couldn't have been more delighted with our experience. The park is a natural haven, home to an abundance of wildlife, including numerous swans, ducks, and geese. It was a joy to watch these graceful creatures in their natural habitat.

The park itself is well-maintained and offers plenty of amenities for families. There's a spacious playground that kept the kids entertained for hours, and we enjoyed a lovely picnic in one of the designated areas. The serene atmosphere and the picturesque lake make it an ideal spot for relaxation and quality family time.

Overall, we highly recommend this park for families looking to enjoy nature and spend some peaceful moments together. It's the perfect place to unwind and connect...

Western Springs Park is a peaceful oasis in Auckland, perfect for nature lovers and families alike. The park is beautifully maintained, with lush greenery, serene lakes, and plenty of open spaces to relax or have a picnic. The walking trails are easy to navigate and offer picturesque views of the water and surrounding wildlife. One of the highlights is the abundance of birdlife—ducks, swans, and even pukekos roam freely, adding a unique charm to the park. It’s also a great spot for kids, who love feeding the ducks and running around in the wide-open areas.

This morning we went for a lovely round trip of the perimeter of the park which was very pram friendly with lots of wonderful variety of birds, native trees, clean lake water, and informative signage. The open green spaces perfect for future picnics and lots of chairs and tables dotted along the path as well as under the trees. The eels with the up and down bridge were a favourite! The playground is unmatched with lots of variety, colours, shade, seating, bins, all within nice proximity of the zoo cafe (accessible from the park, next to the playground).

A lovely park across of Motat, and next to the Western Springs Stadium. This park often used to host events including concerts. In the summer times also used as sporting fields. Car parking in the summer is extremely hard to find. Contrary to the park with the pond across the road which similarly called Western Springs Pond Park, this park doesn't have any ducks, swans, pokeko or any other birds inhabiting the park. If you you look for the sporting fields this is it, but if you're looking for the pond and the birds that's across the road.
