This came recommended from a Google search as a good place for breakfast. On arrival it wasn’t too busy so we thought this would be nice and quick to be served but we were wrong. Staff can only seem to be able to handle one order at a time, taking an order the proceeding to out that together, they ignore customers waiting and treat you like you aren’t even there. We were just about to walk out but finally got served after about 10 minutes of waiting at the counter. They don’t rely on table numbers, when our coffees were made they just yell your order out and don’t bring it to the table for you, not a big deal but just worth noting if you have a disability, use a walking aid or even just totally unaware. The other odd thing was when food is made they just come out shouting what they have In their hands, makes it confusing if a number of people have ordered the same thing! The food was what saves this place, it is fresh, tasty and very good portion sizes. I had the pancakes with banana and bacon, the pancake was huge and really thick, looking at it I thought it was going to be terribly stodgy but it was rather the opposite, really light and fluffy but dam filling, I could only eat half! I wouldn’t recommend this place on service as it has a heck of a lot to improve on but food wise it is a good spot.

The coffee shop that launched a hundred copies in New Zealand, Midnight Espresso was the beginning of the "coffee revolution" by the Kiwis. It opened in 1988 and while the neighborhood has changed (and calmed down a bit) and the patrons have changed (and are a bit more mainstream), it's a lively little spot with a fun vibe. Food is served around the clock starting with pastries and pancakes in the morning and moving to burgers and nachos later in the day. What's awesome about Midnight Espresso is that they are open late. Way late. 7:30 am weekdays and 8:00 on weekends, closing at 1:00 am. There's music, there's a fun vibe, there's some history. Five stars. This was the best flat white I had all week across five cities of New Zealand.

Our favorite Cafe in Cuba Street and Wellington City Centre. Great atmosphere, great staff, and the best food. Cabinet food portion size is insane, with incredible pricing. I'm not ashamed to say my mouth dropped open and started watering, and with those prices literally nothing is stopping you from buying one of each incredibly delicious looking item. The breakfast and lunch menu is extensive, with customizable options for vegans and meat eaters alike. It's heaven for a vegan like me, who is used to settling for fries and a black coffee at every Cafe she goes to. A trip to the bathroom is a must, because the walls are painted high with incredible glowing art under black lighting. Just wow!

Midnight Espresso is honestly my go to cafe! I'm always open to spend some time there. It's a perfect little place in the middle of the Cuba St. for coffee, tea, snacks, lunch or dinner. There is a really good variety of food options at Midnight Espresso. You can find gluten free, vegan, vegetarian, non vegetarian food here. They have something for everyone. Despite the fact that the cafe is a little confined, it still has a lot to serve. There is a Star Wars pinball game, one of the tables has an old school game in it. The walls have beautiful artwork on them. There are some perky elements in the cafe which give a unique vibe to the entire cafe.
