This establishment is able to continue operating based on its location. It is positioned within and next to a couple of very large office buildings that provide its customer base. There are few food options in this immediate vicinity. Its there because people are in a hurry and don't have time to go far afield. The food options are pretty limited. Whereas some of the food is quite good, most of it is best just for abating hunger rather than enjoyment.
But the real turn off is the customer service. Whereas some of the staff are fine, there are some that are effectively walking customer deterrents. Its at a point where before I go in i'll take a glance and see which staff are serving. I discussed this with some of the others in my office and many were the same.
When a business is in a position in which a number of customers base their decision on whether or not to go in on the basis of which staff are manning the counter, thats a staff and training failure.
For example, a situation I have had a number of times. Like most who come here, im in a hurry. Often I will order two items, one cooked and the other from the cabinet. I will ask for the cabinet item first so I can eat it while the cooked item is being cooked. A perfectly reasonable request and one I have every right to make. Some staff are fine with this, some are extremely hostile about it. In the latter cases, the request is either met with an aggressive flat out refusal, or an angry glare and the request ignored. Last week not only did the latter occur, but the staff member started whispering some mocking comments about me to one of her peers. Whispering does not make one unhearable when the subject of derision is standing a few feet away.
Another common occurrence is getting no cutlery with an order that requires a knife and fork. Ask for cutlery and you will be grudgingly given a knife. Then you ask for a fork and you get a big mocking eye roll before grudgingly being handed a fork.
As above, some of the staff are fine. But others are just rude as described. You know whether you are going to be treated well or subjected to aggression and mockery simply by taking a glance to see who is behind the counter...
Read moreI had the pleasure of visiting this small cafe during a busy lunch rush, and I must say I was blown away by the quality of the food and the friendly staff. Located in a central location, we weren't expecting much, but the food we received was absolutely stunning. I ordered the smashed avocado on toast with bacon and poached eggs, and every ingredient was fresh and well-prepared. The bacon was crispy and the avocado came with a perfectly sized lemon squeeze. The grainy bread tasted like it was freshly baked from a bakery. My husband ordered a burger and was not disappointed at all - it was juicy, flavourful, and cooked to perfection. Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff were friendly and welcoming, making our experience even more enjoyable. The cafe had a great vibe, and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. I highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a delicious and friendly...
