My best friend and I came here on our last night in Wellington as a fun fancy dinner. The decor is so fun, with a mix of all different Asian cultural art and symbols (Chinese, Indian, Thai, etc). There's ample seating and the staff are super friendly and attentive. It was rather busy when we came, but we didn't have too much of a wait getting our drinks and food. We got the triple cheese naan to share, which was really light and yummy. I got the Singaporean noodles: the portion was enormous, so I couldn't finish it even though it was phenomenal. The shrimp and crispy chicken were cooked perfectly, and the rice noodles were so flavorful. My bestie got the black pepper tofu which had bok choy and broccoli in it, which she loved. We also tried the spicy cucumber side was quite reminiscent of what you'd get in China and Taipei, though much less spicy/vinegary due to the addition of peanut/coconut flavors. The thing I loved most was the Hoh Chi Minh Mule which had feijoa vodka. I loved it so much, I ended up drinking 2. It's probably the first time I've ever finished 2 whole cocktails with a meal since I'm not a huge drinker. This was such a fun place to dine in. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area!

Disappointing food. I genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if I get sick. Starter platter: Started off promising. All deep fried. Squid was flavourless and mushy. Mains: “Seared” salmon came drowned in a stew like soup, would be helpful if it was clarified on the menu that it was a soup kind of dish. Some of the extra seafood tasted ?dodgy. Sticky pork belly came in a soup of some type of soy sauce and covered with coleslaw?? The pork belly meat was dry and there was so much pork fat on it I could barely eat it. The cucumber salad, shocking and lastly the kids butter chicken, curry was nice but the rice was overcooked and mushy. All these dishes are very small for the price. Drinks: the drinks really carried the whole experience, the white sangria was nice. Service was good considering it was busy, it was so loud we barely talked to eachother. As someone who’s travelled south east Asia the food was not at all a representation of the amazing foods made over there. We definitely would never return.

Excellent service, stopped by one night for a drink and tried the bartenders choice drink for $15 these can be fiery so be warned, whilst there the place smelled amazing so we knew we had to come back for food. We did pop back the next evening and the food was nothing short of spectacular, we were a group of 9 as well so there was a large variety of food across the table as well as drinks I can safely say we all left very happy with our choice. Friendly staff, we are a group travelling through NZ on a Lord of the rings tour and our server as it turns out was also a fan who was happy to enlighten us about the fellowships visit to this establishment during their time over here, a nice touch for us personally, thank you very much

Monsoon Poon has become my birthday restaurant of choice, but that doesn’t mean I only visit once a year. The menu is expansive and packed with numerous items to sample and share. No matter what your taste or mood, there’s bound to be something to satisfy you. For me the standouts are the delicious and succulent Malai chicken starter (or firecracker chicken sliders if you’re feeling brave) and the Yellow Curry main... but that’s just the chicken! There’s so many more tempting dishes. If you haven’t booked there’s usually a small wait for a table, but that’s just an excuse to try one of the many thirst quenching cocktails - I’d recommend the Ho Ch Minh Mule :)

I have eaten here twice, first time I loved it, 2nd time not so much. The fried oil aroma hit me straight away when I walked in & I felt it stayed with me when I left. If you are watching your weight or limiting the amount of oil & fried food, this is not a place for you. I ordered a chickpea salad, thinking it would be light & full of fresh vegetables, but it it wasn't. It was a large portion, most likely ideal to share & not to be eaten on it's own. It had some vegetables, but all seemed to have been fried & coated with masala curry spice. So not really a salad as titled, but a fried dried curry spice dish.

It’s a good Asian fusion food place. We were 9 adults and 3 kids and had ordered combo starters 45$ (not worth the price and the serving size - avoid) wok lobster 39$ an ok dish. The lobster was cut in pieces so lost it’s delicacy. Bali prawns 28$, this also ok. Nothing special. Singaporean fired noodles with chicken 27$. This was good. Bangkok street noodles with chicken 24$ which was ok. And for kids had satay chicken skewers which was actually nice. For presentation 5/5.. Overall for taste and the serving size the food is 3/5. The ambience and service was nice and would rate 4/5.
