Vivant! — Restaurant in Wellington

Terrible! Bad service and even worse food.

One of our party became violently ill a few hours after eating at Vivant.

We ate at the restaurant because our party of seven were staying in the hotel and we arrived late in the evening.

The restaurant wasn’t very busy, but we were warned to avoid ordering the steaks as they would take longer.

The main menu lacked vegetarian options, our server advised only soup was vegetarian. We asked for the grab and go menu, which had a few more items.

We ordered and then waited and waited and waited some more.

We waited well over 90 minutes for the food to arrive. Most of us received partial orders and then had to wait for another 20 minutes for the rest of our food.

We were told once by the manager that they had dropped some of our food, which was partly responsible for the delay and the comped our non-alcoholic drinks.

I found the lasagna quite bad. The sauce was unseasoned and reminded me of canned tomato purée.

Additionally, one of our guests became very sick that night from what we suspect was...

I stayed at ibis for a night with my family 2 adults and 2 kids, I had dinner at vivant restaurant, food delayed byv1 hours , very poorly manged service team , they took our food to wrong table, I spend more than $200 in total, not great taste and very small quantity, I would recommend a better chef and a good manager, and I notice lot of public use the restroom, not sure why the hotel allows that, but my feedback is about the food, extremely disappointed, with the quality and quantity of food and service and never recommend to any one I know, please don't waste your money there are so many great restaurants to try. And since I stayed in ibis I got free breakfast which is not great. But you are a bacon on bread or cereal person it will work. Staff at reception are great but my overall experience at the vivant restaurant is terrible so please don't waste your money. You either get some food from supermarket or try great restaurants ...

Booked this place cause we were staying close by and the menu looked interesting. The experience was overall quite average. The menu looked good but the food itself was really just OK. Had the scallops for entree and the presentation was beautiful but the flavour of the ingredients don't really work together. Just tasted like food being thrown together...Had the grilled chicken breast and the scotch fillet for main, again presentation was great but food tasted very average. Not impressed that the Bearnaise sauce was cold and tasted like something came from a jar, and the most tasty thing on the plate was the chips.... It was OK because we got a deal for half-price food, but I'd be pretty angry if I had to pay over $35 for a very, very average main. You can get so much better and so much more for that price...
