. (03/2018) An upscale restaurant well located over Johnston St, conveniently accessible from Lambton Quay and can be easily spotted on the roadside from a moving vehicle in normal traffic. Easily approachable. Well managed, organised and nicely maintained. Awesome ambiance and cozy atmosphere. Spacious and comfortable seating around the restaurant which is divided into different sections. Pleasant, cheerful and helpful staff. Well timed and friendly service. Great variety of food and drinks with many options for vegans and vegetarians. Delicious food and good presentation. Loved Garlic Baguette and Falafel Buddha Bowl with Haloumi Cheese. Hot chocolate was amazing. Table service. This restaurant offers takeaways. Card as well as cash payments are accepted. Good for groups, celebrations, family, kids and catch-ups. Normally busy during evening. Outdoor seating is not available. Could not notice wheelchair accessible seating or high chair in plain view at this location. Entrance is not wheelchair accessible. There is no dedicated parking area available although street parking can be found around the entrance. Wheelchair parking is not available. Enjoyed...
Read moreService pleasant.. Sometimes had to get the staffs attention.. Maybe Monday is a difficult night. Wines by the glass offered were rather ho hum with best cabernet merlot offered (only by the bottle) the to my mind uninspiring ata rangi celebre.. Pinots by the glass also supermarket level like rabbit ranch. Best pinot, again only by the bottle, was amisfield pinot noir. This was OK although had some combined sulphur on the nose. Staff kindly found us a water jug to help breathe that off. Maple Pork belly and accoutrements was excellent except the mashed potato tasted like it had been made from dehydrated potato powder. Unfortunately the Angus scotch fillet was clearly another cut as instead of mouth-wateringly tender it was inedibly tough and was returned. The hamburger in blue cheese replacement was adequate with very good chips but this writer is not convinced hamburgers are really a great gastronomic advance on a filled bun... . Apple pie dessert minus the plums (due to market shortage) was good if not memorable. Espresso coffee was well made. Doubt we'll be back although Monday night in Wellington restaurants are slim pickings.. Staff...
Read moreNot a bad experience, just an underwhelming one. Would come for drinks again but not for food.
Walked in around 5:30pm on Friday.
Service: Great. Seated promptly and waiters were attentive. Did not have to wait very long for our burgers and drinks considering how busy it was.
Food: We ordered the two for $35 "gourmet burgers" with fries. Juicy patties. Dry, cheap fluffy buns. Comparable to something you might make for a crowd at a home BBQ. Would never pay the fill price for these burgers. Fries were crispy and tasty.
Drinks: To access the burger deal, you must buy two drinks. Fridays offer $10 cocktails. Considering this is a gin bar, I don't think these cocktails are their selling point. Good value, but basic. The quality gin and tonics are off limits in this deal.
Atmosphere: Pleasant. Nice separation of bar and dining areas, not too noisy.
I would like to return to Juniper just to drink, as their range of gin is impressive, but I won't be...
