Embarking on a culinary adventure with the Japanese Garlic Tonkotsu Ramen featuring a shop-made soup base was a delightful experience. From the first sip of the broth, it was evident that the chefs behind this creation had mastered the art of traditional ramen-making. The depth of flavor in the soup base showcased a perfect balance of richness and complexity, capturing the essence of authentic Japanese cuisine.
The toppings were a testament to the shop's dedication to quality ingredients. Each element, from the succulent slices of tonkotsu pork to the perfectly seasoned soft-boiled egg, contributed to the overall harmony of the dish. The fresh vegetables added a burst of color and freshness, elevating the ramen to new heights.
The noodles, a crucial component of any ramen dish, were a true standout. Cooked to perfection, they possessed a satisfying chewiness that complemented the broth beautifully. Each mouthful was a symphony of flavors and textures, leaving me eager to savor every last drop.
Whether you're a seasoned ramen enthusiast or new to the world of Japanese cuisine, this dish is sure to impress. Treat yourself to a taste of tradition and indulge in this exquisite bowl of ramen – you won't be...
Read moreWhat we ordered: Tsuke dipping udon with chicken $15 Garlic Tonkotsu shoyu ramen $16.5 Vanilla ice cream mochi $6
We got the tsuke dipping udon because I thought it sounded super interesting. It did taste really great, the noodles were bouncy and the chicken was super juicy and the broth was great.
The garlic tonkotsu shoyu ramen was also so so good. We love garlic and broth and ramen and pork so this was never going to be bad. There were also bamboo shoots which were kind of crunchy and worked so well with everything else. However, after a while I think the flavour dulled out a tad, it was still great though! Also, personally I would prefer a runny yolk but I still thought it was a great meal!
The vanilla ice cream mochi was also amazing, I'm still dreaming about it now. The chewy thin mochi with the ice cream is the best thing you could ever taste and I plan on buying more as soon as I get the chance, it's definitely one of my new favourite desserts.
I think the only reason why I docked a star is because of pricing. $6 for three pieces of mochi did hurt my heart a tad but I still have no regrets and it was a...
Read moreThis is literally the best ramen I have found in Auckland. I've come here twice and the food has been amazing both times.
The taste and presentation is very authentically Japanese. The quality is excellent - it was even better than some ramen I had in Japan!
The restaurant is small which is understandable given the location. If you can't find a seat straight away then it is definitely worth the wait to stick around (or go for a walk and come back).
The first time we came here there was quite a wait on food, but our second visit was much faster so they're definitely improving things which is great to see.
My recommendation is the Tonkotsu Shoyu ramen. Or if you're very hungry, the Tonkotsu Shoyu Chashumen which comes with more pieces of the delicious melt in...
