Burger King New Lynn — Restaurant in Whau

I've always held out for BBKing because my last name is King. Also because I've always loved their food even when MC Donald's was the cheap one and now more when bbKing became the cheap one.

But man. This was a very sad night.

The service screen between me and the server made hearing the options and asking questions almost a joke. We both ended up talking face to face to the side of the screen. What kind of stupid company is still using these anyway. Insane. Stupid. Delete your moronic COVID policies already. You look dumb.

The only reason I went was for their special $10 combo. But tbh, what a let down. I usually love the wendies mates rates combos which are cheaper. But man what's wrong with your food these days? Sad...

The chips average as. The Sunday was aweful like creamy ice with no flavour, even skimping on the sugar... With very little sauce... Then the soda was sour with very little sweetness. That's usually the best part about fast-food places is the soda has more syrup than the store bought stuff. These guys had less! And I didn't even put ice to avoid the watering down.

I then had the chicken nuggets which tasted like a deep fried bread paste..m disgusting. My daughter said her tummy hurts from eating this junk. The burgers were so sad. I got a whopper junior combo for my wife thinking she'd appreciate it. Because whoppers are usually amazing. She said it was pretty terrible. I was shocked...

And to top it all off, the drink lids don't even fit the bottoms properly. I have to struggle to stop it bending and breaking the cup and even still it's dodgey.

I spend $30 for my whole family on three cheap special deals. And I genuinely wish I went home and ate jam on toast. It would have been as nutritious and more enjoyable for pennies on the...

The food is about what you expect from a BK. What you don't expect is the poor service. It felt like the staff were a week into their 2 weeks notice for quitting. The staff at the speaker interrupted me while I was giving my order to say "sorry for the wait". Nice one. Told to drive on through, they didn't specify the window.

Drove through to the first window. I was greeted with a dingy room. It had a computer in it, but no staff. There was no sign to say that this window is no longer in service. You would think that the manager of the place could at least use a HANDWRITTEN SIGN that would take 30 seconds to make and not leave your customers in the dark. This is what makes me think the problems at BK New Lynn are systemic. This has been mentioned in other reviews. Waited about a minute there before going to the next window.

Given my food at the last window and was happy to get out there, staff looked kinda miserable.

Placed my order by the combo number and what drink I wanted then said "that's all thanks" proceeded to drive to payment window and he stopped me over the speaker asking if the number 3 was the combo or the burger? I said "well since I ordered by number and told you the drink it's obviously a combo?" he then snapped at me and said what drink then. I said once again coke please. We got to the window and I paid with my card it said approved and I handed the machine back. 2 mins later still waiting for the food not sure what he's been doing with the register but he said sorry you have try again payment is declined. I opened my bank app on my phone and saw payment to bk was made told him payment is done give me a receipt please and my food which has been sitting there 2 mins. He called manager over they played with the register another minute or so then I told them I'm in a hurry can I have my meal. They handed it to me no apology or anything and sure as hell the chips were cold and the ketchup I requested...
