Food was delicious!!
I've had hit or miss experiences trying to experience Nigerian cuisine. But this place was by farrrr the best I've had in over three years living here.
I had the native fisherman soup with goat meat and this plantain based swallow, my partner had the banga and starch.
We were reallyyy hungry, which made the experience unenjoyable in the beginning cause it takes like an hour to get food. I asked if they did starters/appetizers and was offered pepper soup. Considering my main was a pepper soup, the suggestion made little sense and i passed. We killed time playing whot and ayo which was a nice touch, but food in my stomach would have been preferred.
The banga was the best ive tasted, only complaint was the fish provided as protein was a giant head, my partner and i both HATE heads (don't even like seeing them let alone eating) so this was a big no that we couldn't change the piece we got.
The fisherman soup took a bit longer but the fact they gave such ample serving of seafood and goat meat was amazing. I got mine spicy which made it even more delicious. Spicy is actually spicy here, proceed with caution 😂
Our waitress was very sweet and could answered our questions about the menu, live I've said a million times food is amazing, but that wait time with no starters and fish head only situation brings...

From the moment you step in, you're greeted with a warm, earthy palette, traditional art pieces, and an air of modern sophistication. The restaurant's design is a seamless blend of contemporary and traditional aesthetics, creating a cozy yet elegant atmosphere that makes it perfect for casual outings or special occasions.
The customer service is outstanding. The staff are welcoming, attentive, and eager to ensure your experience is pleasant. From promptly attending to seating arrangements to offering thoughtful menu recommendations, they strike the perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness.
However, patience is required when dining here, as the waiting period for food can be longer than expected. While the dishes are worth the wait—boasting authentic flavors and generous portions—the delay might be a drawback for those on a tight schedule.
In summary, Native Tray excels in aesthetics, ambiance, and customer service, making it a gem in Lekki. If you don’t mind the wait, the food will undoubtedly reward your palate with its rich,...
Read moreExcellent, unassuming and wonderful find. This is my absolute favorite restaurant for local dishes in Lagos. The place was clean and smelled amazing, there were scented candles and diffusers positioned literally everywhere from the stairs to the main dining. Ambience is very relaxing and calming and there’s both indoor and outdoor dining with different aesthetic to it. Have been here 2 times, and both times was an amazing experience all around. The food is always fantastic and no matter what I order I am always delighted with my meal! Servers are also great and always efficient, happy and polite. I love that you get a lot of food as well for the price. It’s definitely not like other expensive restaurant that caters to traditional dishes and you only get a small amount of food. On my first visit, I wanted banga & starch however banga wasn’t available so I ordered Ijaw native soup and honestly, it was a Banger! I came back another time for Banga and starch and everything was on point except the starch which could have been better. There’s also fresh palm wine. Definitely a spot for friends & family if you love...
