I’ve had my eyes on The house Lagos since forever, but I highly doubted the lighting 😂 so I kept procrastinating my visit. I finally gathered courage to make a dinner stop, picture perfect or not!
The space: The restaurant design theme is literally its name 👌. The house has different sections all designed to look like a regular home, there’s a parlour, a living room, a white room, a study, a booth, a balcony, a dining room catches breath and a patio (very nice patio 😉 which has the signature house bench). I dined in the living room and it’s quite an intimate space with low lit candles on each table. The menu was shared in the almost dark room and we were given menu lamps (in my words a baby torch lights). Homely, dark and intimate.
The food: We had Seafood pasta and The House Red Thai Curry and Rice, I requested to have my pasta tomato based and it was all shades of yummy. The seafood pasta portion was good, it was very well seasoned and the seafood was in abundance. The seafood consisted of squids, shrimps, prawns and even some stuff I can’t remember. Very good for the price. The red Thai Curry and rice tasted amazing, my only wish is that there were more chicken chunks in the sauce, I mixed up chicken and carrots 😩 and it was quite sad to think you picked up a chicken piece only to find out it was a 🥕 .
The Drinks: We had the Amaretto sour and Passion Daiquiri. In my partner’s words the Amaretto sour is the best cocktail he has ever tasted, I didn’t fully agree 🤷🏾♀️ because I tasted 🍒 and I really don’t like cherry flavour or even the look 😩. My passion Daiquiri on the other hand was perfect for me, just perfect!

Read moreSo i went here with my friends for a birthday dinner because it came highly recommended by one of us. We didn't have to make reservations ahead of time and their customer service was amazing! The lady kept coming to check on us, ask if there was anything we needed and our comments on the food. We were first served a plate of potato chips on 'the house', i liked the flavour! Who knew regular potato chips could have such twist and when one of my friends asked if she could get an extra plate, the lady was gracious enough to give her. The food was nice too. One of my friends ordered mashed potatoes and ribs and they both tasted really good. My friend ordered for me and she ordered chicken and chips, the chicken was honey garlic flavoured and it tasted good, i just didn't like the sharp taste of the garlic underneath. I can boldly say I'm not necessarily the biggest fan of spices, Indian food did that to me. All in all, it was a good experience and good ambience for pictures but not necessarily good lighting. Try taking your pictures outside before the Sun goes down or if you've a good camera, i guess you're covered. We played games, they had card games... buuuuuutttt the pricing. I didn't like that the chicken wings didn't come with sides, we had to buy that separately and the chicken wings was already 4000. Then the service charge😂 apparently, the good customer service wasn't free, it was more like 10% of the meal. The drinks were expensive too, a cup of faux buzz mocktail was 3500 and we know these cups are usually...
Read moreAvoid!!! A family friend suggested as we wanted to try a Nigerian owned restaurant in V.I. I am not sure what happened but I can only assume that the cook and chef had taken the day off. This was the late evening of Jan 5. First the stairway carpet was worn and looked dirty, then we were shown around some various seating rooms including private dining spaces that had not been cleared or cleaned after the previous customer left. We opted for the main lobby room downstairs not the garden. Then the worst experience was the food!!!. It took almost an hour for the simple starter of honey chicken to be served and when it did, it was so dry and tasteless from frying and over-frying. It wasn’t tasting fresh. The pasta was abysmal. It was soggy in a soar tasting cream and all mushed together. Whoever cooked that pastas couldn’t have attended any cooking or culinary class. It was horrible. The rice with turkey came out almost 2 hours later plus the house fried rice with no fresh taste to both. The only thing that worked was the pitcher of Chapman, our drink which took 30 mins plus to be served. The waitress seemed confused and stressed. We asked to speak to a manager but there was no manager on site. We eventually spoke to a Supervisor after waiting forever. Another table was complaining bitterly as well. 2 of my party guests could not eat anything and we went home hungry, frustrated and drained. The House restaurant ruined what was meant to be a reunion of four happy family friends. A total ruin and terrible experience. Not...
