We wanted a seafood restaurant for dinner and this fitted the bill. We get great fish and chips at home in Scotland so looking for Norwegian dishes. It was busy when we arrived but there are seats upstairs as well as down, so don’t be put off if downstairs looks full. We did manage to get a table downstairs which was cleared and cleaned for us. The waitress was friendly and efficient and we quickly ordered drinks as she put water on the table. We chose two starters each as these were the dished we preferred. Unfortunately, the understanding that soup first, other dishes later didn’t reach the kitchen and we got them all together. Fish soup was loaded with seafood, the lobster bisque was more delicate as you would expect. We quickly started our crayfish and scallops starters too, which we supplemented with sweet potato fries. Read moreBest fish restaurant in town Ordered fish soup and bacalao, and both were delicious. The restaurant has a wide choice of dishes, also meat and vegetarian food, and a nice wine cart. Also, when you see that apart from you the restaurant is full of locals, then you know you are in the right place. The comprehensive menu offers fish and lobster soup, pasta, NOrwegian fish dishes, fish and chips, vegetarian dishes, meat dishes, something for kids, bacalao and a large sushi choice.

Food quality was mixed--kilppfisk was heavenly, tempura cauliflower was excellent, sushi was fine/unremarkable and quinoa salad was boring & overpriced even by Norway standards. The food took a really long time to come (over 45 minutes) and arrived in a very strange order, which left two of our party to decide whether to eat their entrees or wait for the rest of us to have our food. They ate, which was good because their food would have been cold by the time the rest arrive--and they were done long before the rest of the food came. Based on the reviews, I think this place relies on recommendations by hotels and the tourism office rather than by the quality...
