Cafe Norge — Restaurant in Bergen

Went for lunch with a friend. We asked to see a menu before we sat down to eat, and after perusing it, we both decided what we wanted to eat.

We were seated and the same menu was presented at the table. However, when we ordered, we were told it was the old menu.

So, another menu was presented. My friend and I looked it over and I found something on page two I thought I would try. My friend's menu did not have a page two. Another set of menus was presented.

We both decided to try the mini burger. The food was nicely presented, and served quite promptly. We both chose sweet potato fries with the meal, and they were very nice. The burger itself, however left much to be desired. I think the chef had been very heavy handed with his use of potato flour to bind the meat. I think one probably could have bounced the burger on the floor, or off the wall if one had wanted to.

The burger was compact and chewy and not at all satisfactory.

The server also forgot to bring the wine and another server had to get it.

The newly renovated cafe was very appealing visually, and it was clean. But, we will more than likely not eat there again.

Very disappointed - loved the old Hotel Norge and their cold table upstairs.

We ate here twice over 4 nights stay in Bergen. The food was delicious and varied. We were lucky that the menu (which changes seasonally) happened to change between our 2 meals so we had several new meal options available for the 2nd visit. However there was enough variety that we would have easily managed with the same menu. A stand out would be the customer service we experienced, particularly Markus who was knowledgeable, friendly and gave us fabulous recommendations including wine...

We went for a dinner and drinks date night. The high chairs are so comfortable, although we were sceptical at first. Staff was polite and very quick service. We ordered the asparagus salad which is a main meal in itself. I was particularly impressed by the quality of ingredients and the curation of the dish; how the burrata, cranberries all came together. My husband ordered the chicken dish and couldn’t stop praising the caramel sauce combination in crispy chicken. Nearly licked...
