Kafé Spesial — Restaurant in Bergen

My wife and I went to Kafe Spesial in the hope of having dinner after half a day of sightseeing 😅

All tables were occupied and they had a bunch of reservations further into the evening. We asked whether we could select something for takeaway and the answer was 'Yes, of course!'

While we were looking through a fairly comprehensive menu (there are both Norwegian and English versions), a waiter found a table for us, and we happily occupied a table for 2.

The place is very atmospheric - buzzing of light music and people talking. Our lamb burgers arrived in 10-15 mins - quite generous portions, looking juicy and tasty 😋

We finished the meat, but left a bit of dough and potatoes on the plates.

Overall very satisfied with the friendliness of the staff, decor of the place and quality of the food... Not to mention that it cost us around 514 Nok for two of us - the best value for money during our week in Norway 👛

I really thought about putting my views here since i had a bad experience but i think people should really know about it.

Long story short. Me and mine wife dined in for a lunch and ordered Pizza and Shakshauka and they kept me waited for 1 hour straight and continued serving online and take away orders. I do understand that restaurants have busy hours but I could literally see numbers of packages handing over to the delivery guys while people seating in there just kept waiting. We ordered Vegetable Hummus with Pita and Vegetarian Pizza. Both of them really really tasty, loved the dishes!

The place seemed pretty popular as it was fully occupied and the staff were doing their best to manage everything.

The place is a small cute place, they also serve alcohol.

The place was short staffed on the day we went, so the service was pretty slow. The staff could have been a little nicer in their communication and also give out the English menu on the first go instead of us having to figure out dishes in Norwegian and struggling with it after asking for help with...
