I chose this restaurant for its small Norwegian dishes, allowing us to try various items. We ordered four dishes and waited a long time for the first one, the crab meatballs, which were unremarkable but nothing special to point out. After more waiting, the next dish, the bone marrow, arrived and it was fantastic, original, and very flavorful! After a bit more time, the third dish, the ox cheeks, came and they were very tender and well-balanced. We waited again for the fourth dish, which arrived wrong. After some time, the waitress came to inform us that the dish we ordered was no longer available, and she assumed that what she had delivered was what we wanted, without apologizing or acknowledging the mistake, as if it was our fault for not knowing that the dish we had ordered, which she had accepted, was unavailable.

The food is good, and the wait time is somewhat acceptable considering that a meal can also be an experience, but the service leaves much to be desired. Mistakes are human; we don’t expect perfection, but acknowledging them should be a basic courtesy for anyone, especially in customer service. I would have given a better rating for the food quality, but unfortunately, it doesn't compensate for the poor service. I imagine there are other places in Bergen that offer both good food and don’t end the meal with a cold...

Had a good experience. We wanted to try what all the reviewers were raving about. In my opinion, I've tried it and now I can say I have, but I probably wouldn't return. The two guests I was with had the set menu - beat and goat cheese salad/macrole mousse, pork chop over creamed peas and carrot cake. Although they loved every bite, the flavors are just not for my palate. I had the paprika tomato soup and it had everything under the sun in it... herbs, sunflower seeds, croutons, cream and just too much going on. My main course, the ox cheek was probably the best thing I tasted all night (reminded me of grandma's pot roast.) The ox was served with mashed potato (good, but again too many different seasonings dancing around for my preference,) and carrots (yuck!) with crispy kale which was absolutely delicious garnish to the dish.

Although the quality of food was superb I must say if you're a simplicity girl like me who likes good clean flavors this may not be for you. There was a lot going on in each dish that I just had a hard time enjoying because it was thrown at you all at once. That on top of the price (be prepared to pay a hefty penny, for 3 people it was close to $180 USD,) I would say it wasn't totally worth it. Enjoyed the experience but probably...

I don’t like to and usually don’t leave bad reviews, but I had such a disappointing experience that I had to.

I had a reservation at 20,30h and my group arrived at the restaurant 5m before that. We only received the menus at 21,30h after I had to catch the waitress to receive some attention. Of course by that time one of the only 4 main dishes was out of stock.

By 22h we were still waiting for our food. I completely understand and can empathize with a very busy service, but I was very disappointed to see that other tables around us were seated after us and served before us. We did not even receive napkins for our meal.

Once we received the food it was close to 22,15h, we ate it in 15m and by 22,35h we were already leaving the restaurant. The portions were so small that I honestly went to get some take away food right afterwards.

What made me leave this review was not the slow service, that can always happen and it’s understandable, it was the lack of any apology from the staff. I feel it’s customary in these cases to bring a piece of bread or dessert at least or even discount something from the bill. In our case not only we didn’t receive an apology, but we even received an angry look and gesture from the waitress when I clicked “no tip” during...

We had a nice experience. The ambiance was casual but warm, offering a comfortable atmosphere for our meal. The service was also good, with attentive and friendly staff throughout our visit. A real highlight was the freshness of the food ingredients (we had herring, mussels, fish of the day, and beef tartar); you could tell they prioritized quality. In terms of Norwegian cuisine, this restaurant certainly delivered a decent food experience. We've noticed that Norwegian food, in general, tends to be quite simplistic in its seasoning, often leaning heavily on fat and salt with less emphasis on sweet or sour notes. While this aligns with the traditional style, it's something to keep in mind if you prefer more complex flavor profiles. However, within that context, the dishes here were well-prepared and enjoyable. At the same time, we've had better Norwegian food at a lower price point. I will say the highlight was the sour cream with the herring.

We spent our last night in Norway and wanted a special farewell meal. We have had amazing food across our 2 week trip in Norway. We had huge expectations for this restaurant especially since we made reservations well in advance but we had poor service were asked to move tables, my husband and son had the seafood tasting for two. Their food was good I ordered the beef and also fries as I am gluten-free which I said when I booked. The fries and beef came at the same time after I asked them to bring fries first with my son and husbands courses. The beef was cold, the meat was pre cut and dry and very tough. I then waited 25 minutes for cod, peas and potatoes the sauce was watery and salty. I had the same dish the night before for half the price and much more flavor. So disappointing for our last night.
