Please don't call it a pizzeria. It has nothing to do with it. The very young pizza-burner (does not deserve the title of pizzaiolo) that apparently has no issue with the pungeant smell of smoke and carbonised dough in the restaurant. Neither the tasteless crispy dry dough nor the choices of drink served by a mildly polite waitresses are good. Period. The toppings are far too much to cover the useless taste of dough and a way to justify why it is OK to pay 180-230NOK (18-23€) for a toast with toppings that will let you hungry for more. Just run away from it, the restaurant room is cold, dark, humid. I guess they justify it by the "homemade/grunge/industrial style" given to the place, but it just a lack of effort to welcome people. They might be some people in town thinking it's cool to pay an overpriced toast in a cold atmosphere filled with burn smells.. well I'm not. Bergen has many more cosy places, that will give you Joy and fullfilment if you accept the challenge to not follow the crowd, and I'm not even talking about pizzeria. For them, two other addresses in city center with an Italian name will do the job way, way, better. Too bad hoggorm. I was excited by the reviews and comments from people I know. I know now they are just following the trend, but that they don't know anything about good food. Farewell burneria hoggorm, I want to have a real good pizza for my money. (The worse is actually that the owner of the restaurant has two other addresses in town, and they are of an...
Read moreAt first, we had a one-star experience here. We ordered pizzas and after 1.5 hours of waiting, they still hadn't been brought to our table. We then found out, that through a chain of unfavorable circumstances, our pizzas were given to someone else, and the staff forgot about us. It was very busy that evening, so this could happen. We were then told to get our pizza immediately next. Unfortunately, it was still a 20 minutes wait. But we didn't have any more time, as there was a concert waiting for us across the street, and we had already missed the first band entirely. So we wanted to get our money back. However, the chargeback to the credit card somehow didn't work, and we did not want the cash refund they offered because we could not use the cash. As a solution, we were told to get the pizzas the next day. We went back to the Hoggorm 24 hours later. We received a very friendly welcome there, and we got the pizzas straight away. The entire staff was VERY helpful, treated us excellently and provided us with various extras, which we are highly appreciated.
After all, we can highly recommend this place, because the pizza there is extremely tasty, and the music is great. In a year we are back on vacation in Bergen, and we will definitely come...
Read moreReally very disappointing! The website notes you can only book online for Saturday sittings between specific times, seemed to also say that outside of these times, just rock up and wait to be seated on first come first served basis, for fairness sake I'll note i was viewing the website in English using google translate, so may be, just may be, some potentially useful information was lost in translation. We went on a Tuesday so assumed no booking, walked in and got "we're full" barked at us by some young lady at the door, no hello, no sorry, no option to order take out, i was quite proud of myself for not being rude back, but my face probably looked like a slapped arse. We asked if we could wait to be seated and apparently that was not an option, i pointed out the website said no bookings other than Saturday and an option to wait to be seated, but the young lady didn't seem to care. We'd driven 30 minutes into the city just to try Hoggorm after it was recommended by friends, super disappointed at the very poor attitude to customer service. Great that they're currently successful, but people won't go back if...
