We visited Shiraz Restaurant in Bergen yesterday with our two small children, and unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience from start to finish.
Upon arrival, we were told not to sit inside while they were preparing the table – even though it was cold outside and the table was almost ready and already clean. We were not invited inside to wait, which felt quite inconsiderate.
After we sat down, they brought two pitchers of water but didn’t provide any glasses. Then we had to wait a long time for our food, even though two tables who arrived after us (with fewer people) received their food much earlier. We had ordered the exact same dishes, yet our meals were delayed significantly. This was especially frustrating as we had two hungry little children with us, and no effort was made to prioritize or even acknowledge that.
When the food finally arrived, it was very disappointing. The kebab was burnt, the chicken was undercooked, and part of our order was missing – such as the bread we specifically asked for. When we reminded them about the bread, they brought it after we had already finished eating, so it was useless at that point.
To make matters worse, the staff never apologized for the poor service or the food issues. There was no goodwill gesture or discount offered, which would have been standard practice in most places. When I politely asked the server why our food was served so late, she simply replied, “I don’t know – the chef knows,” instead of taking responsibility or offering any reasonable explanation.
This was one of the worst dining experiences we've had in Bergen. I do not recommend this restaurant – especially not for families with children. The lack of hospitality and basic courtesy...
Read moreWe had booked a table for 10 people for a birthday celebration and we picked this place bcs it looked quite nice in the website and we had seen some videos of people recommending the place. Want to add that two of the people in the party is well known with persian food from before.
The facilities are ok. But we realised for the occasion we had we could have chosen a more warm and cozy place.
The waiter brought water upon our arrival and then disappeared for a long time. It seemed it was only one waiter catering to all the tables in the restaurant. There were no checking in along the meal, if we needed more drinks or if the food was ok. There came no question if we wanted coffee or dessert in the end. We had to go and ask them to come to our table so we could pay.
Food was disappointing. The starters was better then the maincourses. Maincourse was lacking taste, was missing salt to bring the flavours up, and the meat was dry. In the end nobody around the table would come back to eat here. Which is a pity - because it could have been such a nice offering of something different in Bergen - its the only place that serves persian food - but when they cant uphold a reasonable service and cook better food, I dont see this...
Read moreI was lucky to visit Shiraz, which opened its doors just a week ago and is already making waves in the city. Demand is so high that reservations are fully booked for the next month, which speaks to the popularity it has gained in such a short time.
From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent. The waitress who attended us made sure we were comfortable and missed no detail: she cleared the dishes between starters and the main course to keep the table tidy and was always attentive to anything we might need. This level of attention truly makes a difference and makes you feel warmly welcomed.
The speed with which the food arrived was another highlight. Just after ordering, we were already enjoying our dishes. Speaking of the dishes, the portions were generous and reasonably priced, which is always appreciated.
In short, a place I definitely plan to return to. Between the ambiance, attentive service, and quality of the food, Shiraz is a spot I...
