The food was very good, but the overall experience could have been much better if the staff had just communicated with us.
We came late on a Sunday night and the restaurant looked busy and understaffed. I would've understood if they had told us they didn't have the capacity for us. At least then we would have known to leave and look elsewhere. Instead, we stood at the entrance for 10 minutes without anyone acknowledging our presence or even making eye contact. I finally went up to speak to someone at the bar. She told me they *might have a table in 15 minutes.
My husband and I discussed this and agreed to take the chance and wait, but when I went back to inform her that we would like to wait for it, we were again avoided, and I was uncertain whether they even knew we were still there.
After 15 minutes of being completely ignored, we started discussing trying another restaurant, as it was getting late. But it was only because I managed to catch a reflection in the door of what seemed like a waitress cleaning a table in the other room that we decided to hold on a bit longer. Not because anyone came over and told us it'll just be a couple of minutes, but because I caught a reflection and decided to wait a moment more. That's already a minus.
Eventially, we were seated. By this point, we were very hungry, so I added an appetizer to the order, expecting that the main dishes would take a while. Again, the long waiting time was never communicated. The waitress delivered our lassis and some papadums, and then disappeared for 50 minutes. During this 50-minute wait, no one came to check on us. Had they just communicated that the kitchen was struggling, I would've happily ordered another lassi to hold off the hunger. I never was given that chance, because they seemed to be trying to survive the chaos of the night by avoiding customers as much as possible.
Finally, when the main course arrived, my husband and I agreed that we would ask them to drop the appetizer, assuming they had just forgotten it. But lo and behold, the appetizer was the last item they put on the table when they brought our dinner. It completely defeated the purpose.
As someone who's worked in hospitality for 6 years, my biggest issue of the night was not that they were busy and service was slow, but rather the complete lack of service. It was understandable that they were stressed. It appeared from my perspective as though they were understaffed, which of course would earn my sympathy. But when that is the case, simply taking a few seconds to inform guests of the situation makes a world of difference. The entire night, I was left confused. Were we going to get a table after all? Did they forget my appetizer? Is anyone going to come around so that I can order myself another drink? Is anyone going to look at me so I can ask for more water?

Read moreVery good on all accounts, highly recommend! The prices are as expected for an Indian restaurant in Norway. Some people here say that the portions are small, but we (2ppl) ordered a curry dish each as well as peshwari naan and could hardly finish it all! The portions may look small but they are very filling!! The waiters were very attentive, and the food came very fast. We were served an appetizer which was decent as well. We ordered no.33 Rani Gosht, which was sweet and had a strong taste of coriander and other herbs, it was very good, real comfort food! The lamb was also very tender. You should ask for extra spicy if you like spicy. Then we ordered no. 54 Sagg Paneer, which was very generous with paneer and very flavourful! Just the right level of spicy. The peshwari naan was sweet and tasty. We also ordered mango lassi, which was very good and fruity -- more mango than yoghurt I would say, leaning towards a smoothie. Comfortable music...
Read moreThe services were pathetic. We waited for over 10 mins at empty reception to get seated. During the course of meal, no one cared to ask for more breads or look at us while we were having food. I had to get off the table and go to waiters to ask for stuff like water, pickle, spoon, etc many times and she was not even apologetic that she wasn't paying any attention to us. The food tasted really bad as well. Peshawari naan had no nuts or raisins, only coconut and that too with so much of Suger that it should be called a dessert. Mixed veg lacked gravy/texture/flavors and was again way too sweet. Staff need to learn basic etiquettes and chef needs to go back to India to learn cooking. I will never recommend...
