I wasn't sure if I'd come to the right address when I got to Hyde – only a small sign on the door indicated that there was a restaurant in this quiet neighborhood. But luckily, they had a table for us and we got a handwritten menu that only contained a few dishes. The wine list was pretty good and contained a lot of nature wine. It didn't take that many minutes for us to get the first dish - a crab with nduja on top of bread. The bread was a bit hard, but it was a delicious combination of crab and nduja. The next dish was smoked eel on pommes anna and pickled cherries and what a delicious dish this was! The potatoes were deliciously tender and juicy, cherries made a sweetness that was lovely with the eel! We switched to chicken wings that were completely fresh and finished with cod in Vadouvan sauce. Vadouvan is a kind of curry blend so basically a lovely cod in an Indian tasting butter sauce. This was lovely Hyde! The eel on the pommes anna was so delicious that I wanted to order it again but unfortunately, we had to leave. I hope I can stop by...
Read moreI get why it was one star, just not why it was a Michelin star. Might be just me, but for $150 meal I expect enough food to fill me up and the service to be friendly.
I was beyond disappointed in the food and portion size. I had a three course dinner and nothing was appealing at all except for the lamb. The lamb was fantastic but it was literally three bites.
To compound this the lady behind the bar was not fun or enjoyable. She had a smug, condescending attitude and when she went too far, she tried to joke and it felt like she was trying too hard to be funny but she just came across as demanding and rude.
I get I’m not the intended clientele for places like this, but when I pay that much money for so little food and to be treated like a chump. If anything this experience makes me never want to go to a Michelin-rated...
Read moreShared a lovely tasting menu here with my girlfriend. Overall satisfied with everything. The scallops really stood out. A few of the dishes were a bit lacking, in particular the ox (main dish), which was a bit dissapointing.
Be careful with the wine suggestions. They are pricey! The wines we received were perfectly paired to the food, and our server was very knowledgeable. However, the glasses were very expensive. We declined the wine package, since we were short on time. I was surprised to learn that we paid 1200kr for three glasses of wine (not each; three in total). It wouldn't hurt to let the guests know the price range the sommelier was choosing within, or be given some choices. I'll admit it left a sour taste in my mouth, after what had been a great evening, to learn that 1/3 of the price we paid was for three...
