We were a group of Asians who just arrived in Oslo tonight (gorgeous place btw, can’t wait to explore more) and decided to get ice cream from this place after a great dinner. This waiter (please see photo attached) who served us was horrible and clearly exhibited racist behavior, our first disappointing encounter in Oslo.
Barking at us impatiently, hurrying us like an army officer berating his recruit soldiers and making snide remarks throughout our entire purchase. Eg: when we took a second spoon (we bought two medium cups), he snapped “you should have asked me for another spoon, and I would have given it to you.”
We stayed back to observe him after we got our ice cream to affirm our suspicion - true enough, when serving a group of caucasians right after us, he was all smiles, friendly and jovial towards them - a complete change in attitude.
We got the pistachios ice cream - it was good - but really, no ice cream is worth this disconcerting experience.
We wish this guy well and hope he can find it in his heart to treat all customers, regardless of country origin, skin colour and race with equal warmth...
Read moreThe one and only gelateria in Norway 🇳🇴. Paradis has few other outlets within Oslo. And the gelato is as good as the ones you get from Italy. To die for 😋. Had my share of medio for 3 days in a row. My favorite is pistachio and salty caramel.
I bought my gelato quite frequent enough for me to notice few details. Among others is the amount gelato scooped into cone wafers is dependent on how long the queue is for that moment of time. I had two good servings in the evenings of weekdays. And I didn’t notice anything different. Today being friday and the weather is good, the crowd was huge and I had to stand in a queue that starts already from outside. And when my turn came, I was attended in hurry and was given a smaller portion. Perhaps there was other reasons why she appeared stress. Nevertheless, the waitress accommodated well after my comments. Since the shop have already a good policy in place, only 8 customers per time in the shop, i don’t see the reason for the staffs to be pressured. I hope the management can look into this and give a good service, in equivalence to their...
Read moreI really loved this place, this is the closest to Italian gelato I have eaten outside Italy, however realising the lack of hygiene protocols they have will stop me from coming back. The person in front of us paid with cash, the staff touched a lot of coins and notes and then, without hand disinfection or hand washing she proceeded to serve our ice cream. It won’t be a problem if she did not touch the ice cream but when she proceeded to give me the spoon she touched the part of the spoon where one eats from and stuck it into the gelato. I asked her to please give me another spoon and this time she did not touch the part from one eats but the contaminated spoon already touched my gelato and thought of it made stop eating. You should implement some safety measures or remind them to your staff if you already have them in place. Covid might be over but as a reminder, there’s no only covid out there and hand washing should always be present on food stores, specially after...
