Went here for dinner looking to enjoy traditional Norwegian food. Was thoroughly disappointed. There was a 3 course chefs menu listed - we assumed you could pick any 3 items from the menu as it wasn’t listed as a set menu. We later found out this was not the case. Despite 2 of our party having the “correct” starter and main they wanted a different dessert - both of which were cheaper or the exact same price as the “correct” dessert and were not allowed to change it and had to pay over 100NOK more to have the meal as 3 separate courses so they could have the dessert they wanted. Then there was the issue with the actual food! 2 people had the crayfish bisque - all they got from this meal was one mouthful (a small one at that) and was charged 164NOK for this! Absolutely disgusting. The mains were nothing special either - the lamb was very rare for one person. The Cheesecake dessert was tiny. The staff were not helpful when we questioned them about the set menu and just didn’t seem to care after all they were making a lot of money from us! We just couldn’t believe it - probably the worst meal/restaurant experience I have ever had - both in terms of food & service. Don’t go here - save your money and go elsewhere! Unfortunately the lowest rating I can put is 1 star - but that’s only because I have to select something - I wouldn’t even...
Read moreVery disappointed with our experience here. The chefs menu is set, something the menu doesn't mention and was only pointed out after we'd tried to order our 3 course meal and was told the options we'd selected were not available. We should have walked out then but decided we wanted to see what this place and traditional Norwegian food was all about. 2 of us decided to skip the starter as it wasn't available on the chefs menu. The two who had a starter ordered the crayfish, it was woefully small, we've accepted Norway is quite expensive but this was a joke. 1.5 mouthfuls later and they were done. The mains came out and one of the braised leg of lambs was dangerously undercooked, almost raw. Then we got to the dessert, despite 2 of our guests having 2 out of the 3 things from the set menu, as they deviated, we're charged for each dish individually at a cost of over 140k more each. The desserts they ordered were the same price or lower than the individual dessert cost on the set meal. The cheesecake was slightly bigger than a custard cream. All in all, this place is a rip off. If you go to this restaurant after reading this review and are left disappointed, you have only yourself to blame. We thought we wanted to see what traditional Norwegian food was like, we'll eat at domino's for the rest...
Read moreThe wine is nicely adjusted to each dish whole they also hold a reasonably good assortment of beer. The food looked appetising and tasted wonderful. They make a new menu for each season so the food is always the best and you will likely gain a new culinary experience of you visit this restaurant with months in between. The desserts were great as well.
The staff was nice in all ways one would expect, though nothing exceptional here, apart from the magnificent beard that one of them rocked. They were also appropriately talkative once we talked to them. One of the staff members misplaced one of our orders so that a 400 gram moose steak, was delivered as a 200 gram order. This was quickly rectified by delivering another 200 gram piece of meat which was well cooked but without extra gravy or vegetables.
The atmosphere in the restaurant was excellent and reminded me ever so slightly of Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese in London.
The toilets are small for a restaurant that can accommodate 170 people at the same time. In the gentlemen's room there was four urinals, one stall and one sink. The smell in the bathroom was clean and oddly sweet, like a form of candy.
If you can afford a fancy restaurant with fancy prices then this place is...
