I applied for a job at this place and was invited for an interview, where I was offered a unpaid trial shift lasting three hours for training. During the shift, I performed all tasks flawlessly - slicing and stuffing bread, preparing French fries, mac & cheese, and lemonades.
I was an ideal candidate based on my prestigious education, experience in hosptality, Norwegian language skills, stamina, and other qualifications. However, the next day, I received a rejection letter, without any explanation or feedback as to why I was not chosen. It became clear to me that their practice is to exploit people by making them work for free during these trial shifts, only to replace them with new candidates repeatedly.
The food at this establishment appears better than it actually is. When I prepared the "First Price" macaroni, it was drowned in cheap sunflower oil, which is known to pose health risks. The overall food quality was very poor and all of the fillings are pre-made and not fresh in any sense. The oil in the fryer looked like it was never changed, resulting in a dark brown color and a strong burnt odor. The drinks were also low-quality - coffee came from capsules, the milk pitcher had visible dirt stains and was unwashed, and the lemonades were just a mix of cheap syrup, water, and ice. Even the cutlery had stains on it, when I asked a shift manager if its ok to serve dirty cutlery - she said that washing machine is broken and it doesn't clean properly but she doesn't care. Additionally, the workers did not speak a single word of Norwegian.
I strongly discourage anyone from visiting this place if you value...
Read moreI recently visited the bread bowl restaurant, looking forward to a comforting and flavorful meal. However, the experience fell short of my expectations. Firstly, the bread, which is a crucial element of any bread bowl dish, was not fresh, greatly diminishing the overall taste and experience. Additionally, the soup, though decent in flavor, was added into the bread post-baking, missing the opportunity to meld flavors in a more traditional bread bowl style.
The service also detracted from my visit. Our waitress seemed to overlook our table, focusing on cleaning empty tables rather than taking our order, which led to unnecessary delays and a feeling of being neglected.
Moreover, there was a noticeable discrepancy between what was advertised and what was available, particularly concerning their drinks menu. The restaurant promotes a selection of beers and wines, yet none were available during my visit. This inconsistency felt misleading and was disappointing for those of us who had anticipated enjoying a drink with our meal.
In conclusion, while the concept of this restaurant is inviting, the execution in both culinary and service aspects was lacking. The experience did not live up to the calories or the expectations set by their menu and advertising, making it difficult for me to recommend this...
Read moreI visited with two friends after seeing their sign advertising gluten-free options. As someone with celiac disease, I asked the staff about allergens, but her responses left me uneasy (she asked if butter contains gluten, and told me ‘there is no kitchen. I am the kitchen.'). At that point, I didn’t feel safe ordering food. I ordered a drink while my friends ordered food.
Her tone throughout was dismissive and unprofessional. When one of my friends tried to order the baby bread, she responded, “That’s for babies, like 7-year-olds.”
We were later served drinks by a kind trainee, who was doing her best. Unfortunately, we then had to sit and listen to the same staff member loudly berating the trainee in front of everyone, saying things like “Imagine right now you were alone… maybe it’s just not your day.” It felt dehumanizing and deeply uncomfortable to witness.
When we paid, I calmly addressed the situation with her. She immediately got defensive and blamed the rush. While I’ve worked in the service industry myself and understand that stress happens, the way she spoke to her colleague was unacceptable.
She dismissed everything and asked us to leave a review, so here it is. I would not recommend supporting a business where new employees are talked to in...
