Of Course, Ibsen is always great and every one can agree with that. - But in this new Ibsen Museum with a suitable large salon, the actors gets in near contact with the audience and creates an enchanting atmosphere. So What can be more right than to go and see the "Sancthansnatten" ? The monologues are like songs with witchcraft and the acting take you back with almost 200 years. The change of scenography is dynamic and made to look so easy, but behind it there is such a experience that leaves a question - how did they come up with that? And not to forget the costumes that are contemporary with the play's release in mid 19th century and You could say that they are Historical Accurate, with hand painted silks and fabric patterns. These costumes are colourful and made with such a know-how that the integration of total concept makes You to want to see the play all once again, because there is more to discover.

We met very friendly guides in the museum, and were offered a private tour upstairs to see Ibsen’s rooms which were not open to the public unless guided by the staff. The scenes in the Ibsen House helped me understand Ibsen’s works very much better. It seems Nora’s final decision lingers on the hallway. It was a very sweet memory in Oslo. All the questions I asked were answered hospitably, with which my husband and I could pay more attention to the great beauty about Ibsen in many of our other walking tours in that week: the cafe, the lines from his plays on the pavement directing to the cafe and the related art works (posters) by Munch. We enjoyed Oslo so much, and the first stop was Ibsen Museum. I believe it is because of the wonderful staff of the museum.

A small but complete overview of Ibsen's life, particularly his final years, when he lived in a generously-sized apartment at this location. If you're not familiar with his work, you can learn a lot here. It would be better to get at least an overview before going. That would contribute to your engagement.

The museum seems newish and growing. They're trying to restore his apartment to its appearance during his time there. The tour--the only way to get in to the apartment--will definitely give you insight into the man. (Free...
