Me and my girlfriend visited Trattoria Populare with 4 other people. We've walked past this restaurant many times and thought to our selves that we should try it. It was quite a warm day in the middle of July, with loads of people. We hadn't reserved a table, but didn't have to wait a long time to get one (maybe 10 minutes). Service was quick, service-minded and polite. We got what we ordered fairly fast. They have great wines, and amazing table bread. Very lovely area to sit and enjoy a glass if wine, but unfortunately we thought the pasta and the food in general was way too salty. The only gluten free option they have is a grilled mackerel, which was also way too salty and a bit of a let down. It felt as though they had dropped a whole bottle if salt in the dishes. *Many italian style-restaurants have more than one gluten free option. Mostly risotto, but here, the risotto was not gluten free. Which sadlg left only one option. We asked for a side salad with the mackerel - got a few green leaves and some chopped red onion... The restaurant has really great potential, but we were actually a bit let down after the first visit. We might visit again, but only to enjoy a glass of wine in a great area. Not too expensive.

The restaurant itself was beautifully decorated, with a cozy and inviting ambiance that was perfect for a romantic evening out or a night with friends. The menu featured a wide variety of classic Italian dishes and everything was prepared with the utmost care and attention to detail. The food was absolutely delicious, with fresh and flavorful ingredients that truly transported me to Italy with each bite. The pasta was perfectly al dente, and the sauces were rich and bursting with flavor. Overall, I highly recommend this Italian restaurant to anyone in Oslo looking for an authentic and delicious Italian dining experience. It was truly a wonderful experience, and I can't wait to return again soon.

The main problem with this place is.. how can you stop eating.. I "just" took some cheese and sliced meat " anti pasta " for 1 person.. and it could be my complet meal.. really great. They do a " real " anti pasta plate for min. 2. I seriously wonder.. how much people could eat from that. It was really great. The grilled meat .. just as it should be. Very impressed.. service just great.. so.. when in Oslo.. and you like a good Italian. And want to end up in probably the best in Oslo.. this is the place..

This place can throw down some Italian food. So good. Their wine selection is beyond impressive, with something for every region and price point. The space was stunning– two floors with a very unique & lux feel in each. Ravioli was delicious as was the bread! The dessert– chocolate truffles– was beyond. I had to knock a star for the service. Our server wasn’t attentive as they were to larger parties nearby. Definitely didn’t make us feel special, unfortunately. Everything else was beyond impressive.

Nice place not far from the city center. It feels nice to be here. The environment is welcoming and well maintained. There is an open kitchen, so that you can see how they cook. We were two people going without reservation on a Friday at 7 and we got a place right away. The waiter Alessandro is very professional and friendly! We got a starter with Italian salami, ham and cheese for 199kr,ravioli (between 199 and 245 kr) and the house red wine. Everything was very tasty! Recommended!
