Aubergine meze didn’t taste much of aubergine and I didn’t feel grill flavor, more like boiled chewy aubergine, meze mostly tasted like yogurt, i didn’t like it. The lack of flavor. Paprika meze was tasty, I enjoyed it. For these prices they could serve more pita bread, one pita for two people and two meze was not enough. We had to order more. It doesn’t feel like Turkey at all, that’s not Turkish concept to charge for extra bread, we didn’t like it. Since the beginning of a dinner it shows how greedy this place is. “Kuzu tandir” was tasty. Good amount of meat. Big portion. “Kuzu kafes” (lamb steaks) were tasty, I felt delicious grill flavor, but unfortunately it was difficult to cut them, there were quite chewy. Bulgur with macaroni and grilled veggies were delicious. We barely could finish two main dishes, it was big amount of food. Baklava was cold and dry and very firm. It was not fresh. It wasn’t so good. Charging 109 nok for two extremely tiny pieces of baklava is insane… In Turkey it’s a tradition to give tea to customers for free, for breakfast lunch and dinner. This is not Turkish experience and not Turkish concept. Charging for a tiny amount of black tea 30 nok… guys… this is ridiculous…
I enjoyed the lamb steaks and paprika meze. Service was good, polite, I practiced my Turkish with waiter. There’s cozy interior, I feel like they want to represent more posh level, but I think it’s overpriced and quality doesn’t match prices. Turkish people are never greedy to serve bread and tea.
1072 nok for two people. One-time visit and definitely not real Turkish experience. We are not...
Read moreHaving read the reviews and being fans of Turkish food, we were really looking forward to eating at this restaurant when visiting our daughter in Stavanger. Between 4 of us we ordered the big meze starter mix and 2 main courses. The mezes were the star of the meal: the vegetarian koftas were really tasty - nice and spicy, and full of flavour - and the others were fine (nothing to write home about, but nice with the breads provided). Our disappointment came with the main courses, which were the meat koftas and the lamb stewed with vegetables. Both came with a very similar tasting tomato sauce, making it quite difficult to distinguish between the 2. It was as if the base for both was just passata - fine if you really like tomatoes, but completely lacking in middle eastern flavours. We were also shocked at the amount of lamb in the main meal - maybe 7-8 pieces no larger than your pinkie fingernail, quite fatty, and not tender. The meat koftas were fine (apart from the tomato sauce drowning them), but were served on a bed of chopped up bread which made them quite heavy. Would we visit again? No, not for a main meal meal - the mezes, quite possibly. It has 3 stars because of the mezes. If you expect middle eastern flavours to remind you of a visit there you will be...
Read moreI'm sorry but I can't give more stars. The order came much too late or you got served the wrong starter which was suposed to be for another table. When we arrived there were only 3 tables so not even half full. There were 4 young employees working as waiters and you could tell there was no system. There was no reason for stress or hectic, only 4 unworked waiters who couldn't offer a good service and got snotty on request. That is not how it works. If you try as a restaurant to establish yourself as a kind of "fancy" and if you also want to charge the specified prices, you first have to offer qualitative dishes, not so long waiting time, and an excellent and organized service.
To tell you have a lot to do because it's the eat and go week its not an excuse. How is it then on a regular day? It's not the first of its kind, you have to be prepared. The menu was specifically adapted for this week, i.e. reduced. Most have all ordered the same dish, which is not difficult to prepare at all. It consisted of only 4 ingredients: yoghurt, few köfte, a simple tomato paste sauce, served on 5 to 8 small 2 cm pieces of pide.
Yes it was rated 6 because out of all the restaurants this was the better "eat and go" offering so far. Unfortunately, it stays with...
