Ovre Holmgate in Stavanger is a unique street called "Fargegata" (colour street). The establishments on this street were not doing business as they should and and hairdresser Tom Kjorvisk worked with building owners and in 2005 overcoming resistance from locals after 4.5 years along with artist Craig Flannagan managed approval from owners for the colour scheme implementation and simultaneous banning traffic made. Fargegata most lively street in Stavanger and a tourist attraction We visited on a rainy overcast day and yet we had little difficultybgetting directions to this colourful street.. The shopping all over the world has now been harmonized and so are the prices and food joints remain the bastion of the unique culture of the area The street has many restaurants and perhaps open late in the day A trip to Fargegata is highly recommended for unique favour of the place

The streets around Fargegaten are quite different from the equally pretty and busy Old Town of Posebyen. Fargegaten is a vibrant area where locals and tourists alike bask in the spring sunshine and share the wonderful hospitality and positive vibe. Lovely to walk around early in the morning before getting busy during the weekends and peak holiday periods

Pretty cool and nice area, very colourful and clean. Seems to be one of the most photographed areas in Stavanger. But it is just a street, with a few shops, tattoo studio, cafe and restaurants, I don't mean this in a bad way, I just say what I see lol!! I do the lap every visit so it's worth a look eh..

It was always wet and raining when we visited the city but we still enjoyed the walking. The street is very colorful with many brightly colored houses. It’s very cheerful and lively. There are a lot of cafe and restaurants along the way where you can sit and enjoy hot drinks in a cold weather.

Hidden among the white wooden architecture of Stavanger lies an explosion of color known as Øvre Holmegate. This small street in the middle of Stavanger's main shopping and restaurant district stands in stark contrast to the rest of the city. Walking through this strip of bars and shops, you almost feel like you're in Copenhagen's hippie district of Christiania.
