The restaurant is undoubtedly a must-visit for sushi lovers seeking a refined dining experience. The meal I enjoyed was absolutely stunning, with 20 pieces of sushi, each more exceptional than the last. Every bite was a journey of flavors, showcasing an undeniable mastery of Japanese culinary art. I especially loved the delicate fish and the precision in assembling each piece. However, despite the remarkable quality of the food, the overall experience left me with mixed feelings. The meal lasted nearly four hours, and the length began to take a toll on my comfort. Sitting on uncomfortable chairs for such a long time made the experience feel drawn out, which slightly dampened the joy of the tasting. I decided not to go for the wine pairing, mainly because the aperitif we were served fell short of the food’s high standard. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the level of the cuisine, which made me hesitant to try the wines. The service was highly professional but perhaps a bit too intricate for my taste. The numerous explanations and anecdotes throughout the meal, while interesting, added to the heaviness of the experience. At some point, I would have preferred to enjoy the meal quietly without so many frequent interruptions. In summary, Sabi Omakase offers an exceptional culinary experience with unforgettable sushi, but the pace and overall comfort could be improved to provide a smoother and more enjoyable dining experience.

I keep racking my brain and Google history to remind myself how I found thisngem. I think I came up on it in a travel blog and I'm so glad that I added it to my list of things to do on vacation. This was such an amazing and unique dining experience. Went as a solo traveler to Norway and thankfully was able to get a seat at the table (the two groups of 4 who I joined that night had made reservations MONTHS in advance). This is once in a lifetime dinner that if you get a chance to partake, don't hesitate, you won't be disappointed. All the fish is sourced from around Norway and could only have been fresher if we had caught it all ourself. Every bite was a whole new experience and the wine pairings worked beautifuly with each different type of fish and meat (even though I don't drink much wine). After stuffing ourselves on so many different pieces, we finished the evening with an amazing dessert, white plum sake, and coffee made in a special type of Japanese coffee maker. Being the only non-Norwegian speaking individual, our sommilier, chef, and other guests that night, were kind enough to speak mostly English and they were even curious enough to know about my travels. I really hope to be able to come back to Norway soon and experience chef's masterpiece again. Thank you, Sabi Omakase!

What an Unforgettable Experience ! Chef Roger's restaurant reflects Japanese tradition, but he also adds little bit of Norwegian twist which makes the whole dine in experience unique. My husband and I had a lovely time. Food was unforgettable, service was great, and everything was excellent. However, I was bit surprised how the service went beyond 11pm. My husband and I had to leave even before the whole "dinner experience" was over because it was getting very late for us. We found Sabi Omakase through Michelin Travel Guide Website because we were traveling the area (meaning, we weren't locals and had a long drive back to our hotel) I'm sure there are people who can eat till 11pm, but there are people who's bedtime is 10pm. Personally, it was just very hard to enjoy the meal/experience towards the end. My husband and I still had a great time, and this place deserves 5 star. But I'm not sure whether I can go back again knowing that the whole experience goes past 11pm.

Went to this restaurant for the first time and even though felt a bit uneasy in the beginning, with good introduction and explanation by the sommelier who was serving us was soon feeling very comfortable! There were only 10 of us all sitting along the bar, there was no menu and we were all in the hands of two chefs working and talking to us in front of us. The food was excellent quality as well as wine menu, most of the fish was local, sourced from different locations in Norway, yellowtail from Denmark and wasabi from Iceland! It was such a pleasure to watch chefs prepare the fish, using the torch and awaiting what was coming next in some suspense. But the atmosphere was very relaxing and the music helped! The food was plentiful and you should never disclose how much more is coming not to spoil the surprise! On a more critical note I liked the cocktail a bit less because it was not easy to access the sauce in the glass. But overall what an experience!!!

Recently, Norwegian business colleagues invited us to Sabi Omakase in Stavanger with high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience did not go well, primarily due to unprofessional service and dangerously prepared food. Overpriced ! About €$ 520 for one person dinner and drinks. The main issue (as seen in our photo attached and on the restaurant's website) is the open flame of the propane burners used to burn the food before serving it. These propane burners are toxic and dangerous to human health, and such food cannot even be served to pets! I have not even tasted those dishes that have been burnt with propane flames. This is very disappointing, especially for a Michelin-starred restaurant. We therefore warn other visitors to think twice before booking a table at this restaurant!

Superb dining experience that was intimate and enlightening. With a limit of only 10 seats right at the chef's table (or in this case, counter), you get up close and personal with the entire meal service - from detailed explanations of ingredients to witnessing how each individual piece is crafted in front of you and then deftly placed on your plate... The seafood that evening was of the best I've had - the flavors of each course melding into the next seamlessly. Drinks pairing was spot on. The entire experience was really surreal as I felt like I was transplanted into Japan yet people around me spoke in Norwegian/English. Definitely a must do in Stavanger.
